BROKEN PROMISE
DISCLAIMER
All original Higher Ground characters belong to Fox Family. And I know you may think that Scott forgives Elaine too quickly, but this is before he actually started to openly express his hatred for her in front of his father.
Sixteen-year old Scott Barringer couldn't believe it was happening again. His stepmother, twenty-six-year old Elaine Barringer was making him have sex with her. He panted shakily, wishing that she would just go away. Why did she always have to wake him up when it stormed? Why couldn't she do this with his father?
"Say you love me, Scotty," Elaine whispered. No, Scott thought fearfully. Why did she always say that to him? Didn't she realize how wrong it was? She was his father's wife, his stepmother. He didn't love her. He couldn't love her!
"Scotty, say you love me," Elaine whined.
"I don't love you, skank," Scott said. She slapped him.
"Wrong answer, Scotty," she scolded.
"I---I love you," he whispered hoarsely. She smirked.
"Oh, baby. I knew you did," she stated. She ran her fingers through her stepson's hair. Scott shut his eyes, trying to pretend it wasn't happening. Man, I wish I was high, he thought. Unfortunately, he hadn't been able to get any drugs that day. Elaine continued, seemingly oblivious to Scott's turmoil. Suddenly, Scott gasped. She had pressed her body against his, nearly crushing him against the bed.
"Elaine," he moaned.
"Ssssssh," Elaine said. "Do you want him to hear us?" she asked in a whisper. Hear us? I can hardly breathe! Scott thought ironically.
"Elaine, no," was what he said out loud.
"You asked for it, Scotty," she stated.
"No I didn't," Scott replied.
"I saw the way you watched me. I know you want me," Elaine declared.
"I don't. You make me sick," Scott hissed.
"Come on. Be honest, Scotty. You like the way I make you feel," Elaine oozed.
"No, I don't," Scott replied. "I want you to stop," he continued. Elaine looked down at him, genuinely surprised.
"Scotty," she said. "Oh, Scotty. This will never happen again. No more. I promise," his stepmother told him. With that, she got up and left. The next day at school, Scott's friends noticed that he looked happier than he had in months.
"Hey, Barringer. What's happening?" his best friend, Josh Charters, asked.
"Nothing much, man," Scott replied. "You know, I think my relationship with my stepmother can be salvaged after all," he continued. Josh stared in surprise. All they had been hearing since the remarriage was how much Scott hated his stepmother and how he wished she'd drop dead. Scott laughed at the amazement on his friend's face.
"Don't look so surprised. We talked everything out," he stated. Then, the bell rang and the two walked off to class. When Scott came home at the end of the day, Elaine was waiting on the couch.
"Hey, Elaine," Scott greeted.
"Scott," Elaine said, emphasizing his name. "I, uh, I wanted to apologize---" she began.
"Forget it. It's over," Scott interrupted with a wave of his hand. He went into his room to do his homework. Hours later, he climbed into bed. The door creaked and Scott's eyes flew open.
"You said no more. You promised," he groaned.
