Rudolph walked away from all the other reindeer who were making fun of his nose. He wished desperately that he didn't have such a glowing nose. He looked at his reflection on a Christmas ball that was hanging on a nearby Christmas tree. Around Christmas town, practically all of the trees got decorated in one way or another.
"This nose is such a bother, why can't I have a normal nose like everybody else!" he said glumly.
"Sometimes, it's okay to be different," a voice said. Rudolph turned around and saw a man with long brown hair dressed in what appeared to be white robes with a brown parka. Rudolph wasn't sure, but he thought the man appeared to have scars on his hands. The man smiled at him and sat down on a nearby log.
"Come my dear friend, why don't you talk about what's troubling you?" he asked. Rudolph walked over to him and explained how all the other reindeer made fun of him, calling him names all because of his nose. The man smiled and gently scratched Rudolph's neck.
"My dear friend. All of us are different, and God has a special plan for all of us. It may not seem so right now, but I believe your nose is actually a blessing. You were given that shiny red nose for a reason, and someday, you'll find out why. Just give it some time," he said. Rudolph looked up with puppy eyes and smiled.
"You really think so?" he asked. The man smiled and nodded yes.
"So, do you come to Christmas town often?" asked Rudolph.
"I make my occasional visit," he said. Sometime later, after Rudolph had led Santa's team through that frightful blizzard, and everyone was now cheering his name, he saw his friend smiling at him, with a nodding approval. Even gently clapping his hands.
