Better Ending to Answered Prayers

Disclaimer: I wish. I wish, Oh how I wish they were mine, but nope.

Spoilers: Post-Ep for Answered Prayers in the Christmas Eve Service after the kiss under the mistletoe.

Author Notes: Having watched every episode of JAG at least 4 times, I reached the point of seeing a better ending to just about all of them. All with shipperiness involved, of course.

As the chaplain finished his message Mac could feel Harm sitting behind her. Her lips still felt his kiss under the mistletoe. It was so soft, so sweet, not like the one on the porch that fateful night. It was full of promise and love and tenderness. She knew he was looking at her. She turned slightly in her seat and met a look in his eyes she had only seen unveiled in the few times that she had been in danger and he let his guard down. They emanated pure…was it love? It was at that moment he mouthed the words I love you and placed his right hand over his heart and sighed at her. She couldn't believe what he had just done. It wasn't possible, was it? As the church emptied, Mac just sat in her seat unable to wrap her mind about what had just happened.

Did he mean what he said or was he just feeling the moment and the season? A warm gentle hand fell on her shoulder and Harm leaned forward to whisper in her ear.

"I mean it. I love you, Mac."

Sarah dropped her head then and began to weep.

"Sarah, what's wrong?"

He slipped out of his seat and came around to sit next to her on the pew. He reached down and lifted her chin to look into her eyes.

"I didn't mean to hurt you, Mac. I never wanted to make you cry. I'm sorry I said anything. I just…I couldn't hold it in any longer…I've been dreaming about you all week and then tonight under the mistletoe, you looked so beautiful and…"

"These aren't sad tears you dope, they're happy tears."

She threw her arms around his neck and he pulled her up to a standing position pressing his lips tenderly on hers again. At that moment a roar went up from the back of the church and applause filled the once quiet sanctuary.

No one had filed out. They had all been standing at the back watching the two of them.

The Admiral spoke first.

"All right people. Let's go, show's over."

He began to herd out the excited crowd.

"By the way Harriet, who won the pool?"

Harriet smirked. "I believe you did sir. I hung the mistletoe just like you ordered me to."

"Just checking, just checking, Lieutenant. He mugged for Harm and Mac. Enjoy the holiday you two. I want to see you both in my office next week though. It's about time we started the New Year right."

After they were gone, Harm smiled down into Mac's radiant face.

"So, you've been dreaming about me?

Harm nodded. "Want to spend Christmas with me?"

"Absolutely and I can't wait for the gift exchange."

Harm swallowed hard and squeaked out, "Gift exchange?"

"If we hurry, we can visit the wall and make it back to your place right around 2400 hours. Then you can "unwrap" it." She scratched his scalp at the nape of his neck sending a shudder up Harm's spine.

His eyes suddenly went wide in understanding. "What are we waiting for?"

Harm scooped Mac up into his arms, planted a searing kiss to her lips and bolted for the door.
