InuYasha stood there immobilized by the sutras that stuck to his body. Impotent in his delirious rage unable to do anything about the horror-filled screams of his beloved Miko as the flames consumed her.
'KAGOME!' His fracturing mind screamed silently within the depths of his prison. 'Kagome!! NOO!'
When Kagome finally fell silent within the towering inferno, tears were the only thing that could freely move on the Inu hanyou as they carved paths on his stony face.
Then the flames seem to get pulled inward as if a huge vacuum had been turned on. A figure of flames took shape, moving slowly as the body solidified. A head wreathed with masses of fiery locks whipped back and a cry of triumph and exultation sang up from the figures throat.
The flames flashed out and there stood in the center of the scorched circle was his beloved Kagome. Reborn like the phoenix of legend; her once human body now that of a youkai, with delicate lavender markings adorning her cheeks and her Inu ears of the brightest moonlight graced her head.
Markings of one Inu Hanyou turned Youkai.

Sutras flame up turning into soot to drift away on a breeze.
InuYasha breathes out her name as his arms open to receive his mate for a future of forever together. Kagome walked with the grace of youkai into her beloved arms and took in the first breath of her InuYasha's scent, forever imprinting it upon her memory.

Sesshoumaru stood to the side not showing his pride in the way his sister-in-law passed the test of the Youkai Kamis to become a youkai herself. He did allow for a mental eye roll and snort at her blatant decision to have the same ears as of her mate.
'It's all about the ears…'
