Twilight / Buffy the Vampire Slayer
Anyanka, the Avenger of Scorned Women, finds Bella after Edward leaves her, and grants her wish for vengeance.
Chapter One: The Wish
Bella sat by the window. Watching. Waiting.
Nothing felt real to her any more – not the pain, or the passing of time, or the burning she felt whenever she took a breath. She spent all her time looking out the window, staring at the world that she was no longer a part of.
She saw the street. She saw all the times when she had sat in his car - it hurt too much to use his name –and felt the wind in her face, as he drove recklessly fast, burning the asphalt. They had laughed, and talked, and everything had seemed so natural.
There was no pain. No fear, no doubt. Nothing, except for their love.
But he had left her. When she needed him the most, he had left her.
"It hurts, doesn't it?"
Bella did not turn, as the voice echoed around her room. It was just another one of the many that spoke to her, whispering to her in the night. Sometimes she saw him. She would crawl towards him, fall into his cold embrace, and forgive everything – but he was never there.
"Men will always betray you in the end."
She had stopped looking for him, and he had stopped appearing.
Now, there was only her, and the endless days. Sometimes, she thought that she might be better off with the visions – at least, then, she could pretend that he was still with her. She was alone in the night, with nobody to comfort her as she curled beneath the blankets, crying.
"It doesn't have to be that way."
She couldn't remember what he looked like. She knew that his skin was white, white like snow – but other than that, there was nothing. There was a crumbling marble statue in her mind, and as time passed, it became less clear.
Cracks spread across his torso. Was it muscular? Lean?
Lichen crawled onto his eyes. Were they green? Gray?
And his hair? In the marble, it was pure white; but she remembered it to be something else. She just didn't know what.
Rain pounded on his face until it had been washed away completely. There was nothing beautiful about his twisted visage, with its crooked mouth and wicked eyes.
"What is his name?" asked the voice. It was becoming clearer now.
Bella paused. It took her some effort to remember. She was in too much pain.
"Edward." She said the word like a foul curse.
"Are you angry?"
"No," she replied, without emotion. "Hurt."
"I know exactly how it feels," said the voice. "But there's always anger. Look a little deeper."
Bella fell silent as she thought about him. They had had something beautiful, but he had destroyed it in all of ten seconds. And then he had left her.
And what hurt her most of all? She could do nothing to stop him. She had felt powerless that day, as they stood in the forest. He had just walked away, as easily as though he were going out the door. She had just stood there and watched, silently hoping that he would turn back, kiss her and forget everything –
But he had not.
"Sometimes, I feel like screaming," she whispered. "I just want to… burst into flames and kill all of them."
There was a soft glint in her eye as she looked out the window.
"I wish that Edward would suffer as much as I have."
She turned around then, expecting to see her empty room. But her eyes widened, and for the first time in months, she felt a pulse of wild fear surge through her body.
There was a demon standing in front of her, in the shape of a woman, but with no skin on her face, leaving it raw and bloody. Her veins were like roots, snaking across her face, and her eyes were yellow and glowing.
Her mouth was twisted into what could almost be a smile.
"Wish granted."
