My first attempt at a OUAT fic. I recently plunged headfirst into this series and fell in love with it! Total Captain Swan fan! :)
To my wonderful readers that are patiently awaiting the next chapter of What It Is To Burn, it WILL be happening...eventually. Life happens. And I needed something new.
Okay, enough talk. Small prologue to get us started.
Enjoy. :)
Current Song: Madonna - Frozen
"You're so consumed with how much you get
You waste your time with hate and regret
You're broken
When your heart's not open"
She coughed and wheezed as reality came back in a painful whirlwind. Where was she? It was so hot that she dreaded another breath, her lungs burning. This seriously wasn't the most pleasant of ways to wake up. The ground was trembling beneath her, the vibrations causing the grit and gravel to slice at her cheek. An earthquake?
Dragging up her arms, she flattened her palms beneath her and pushed up onto all fours, a section of red-matted blonde locks falling over her shoulder. Blood. Hers? Sitting back on her knees, she brought a shaky hand to her head, gingerly inspecting for wounds. Her fingertips grazed a particularly sensitive area before feeling the indention, a gash still wet with blood. Ouch. That would need stitches later.
Another jolt beneath her caused her to sway. She looked around, her head still foggy. 'Where the hell am I?' It was obviously a cave. Sconces lined the cracked walls, some luckily still holding their torches. Bones, old armor, and rusted weapons littered the ground along the edges of large fissures. If she had been anyone else, this would have surprised her.
But she wasn't anyone else.
She was Emma Swan.
She took a deep breath and gathered her hair, pulling the sweat drenched locks away from her neck. It was seriously hot. As she struggled to her feet, another tremor sent her stumbling back. "Woah!" Emma cried as she felt her heels dip off the edge of one of the chasms. Waving her arms arms in a frantic attempt to gain her balance, she spun her body to peer into the dark pit.
And her heart skipped a beat.
"Killian!"
"Now there's no point in placing the blame
And you should know I suffer the same
If I lose you, my heart will be broken"
