Before it all

'There is but one legend told throughout Hyrule. A legend that, one day, the three dimensions would clash and the kingdom would change forever. And you, my boy, you will be part of it.' Link sat at the foot of the Great Deku tree, his mouth agape. He was only young, and it was hard for a child his age to understand legends such as these.

'But Great Deku Tree, I don't understand.' Link stuttered, leaping to his feet.

'You will in time child. But for now, just keep it in mind. You have my leave.'

Link swung himself around on his heel and strolled back into Kokiri forest, his thoughts stuck on the legend he had just been told.

The sun was setting over the shores of Outset and the islanders decided to call it a day. Link and Aryll hurried into their home, to greet their grandmother and her famous elixir soup. 'Say Link, do you think granny will tell us another Hyrule story?' Aryll asked as her older brother who was opening the door.

'Ooo I hope so! I love those stories.' Link laughed, the two stepping into their wooden cottage.

'Granny! Granny! Can we have a story?' Aryll blurted, leaping up and down like something that had just taken jumping tablets.

'Yes granny, please?' Link pleaded.

'Oh alright. How about I tell you a legend that will come true in your lifetimes?' Their grandmother asked, letting the children climb onto her knee. The siblings nodded.

'Alright then. Legend has it, that in the era of 2000, the three Hyrule's, current, new and old, will clash and we will come as one. But, only the chosen ones will cross the portal into the other worlds. And it will be he who bares the Triforce of Courage. Now, who wants soup?'

'Me!' Aryll shouted.

'Yeah me too.' Link said, although the story had got him thinking so much, he didn't know if he'd be able to eat.

Ancient Hylian was a difficult language to read, but Link was addicted to Hyrulean legends and would go beyond his league to read them. The Ordonian would sit reading for hours on end if he had the chance. One particular legend Link was reading was about something called The Great Clash. The book said that in the year of 2009, the three dimensions of Hyrule would clash, and the Triforce of Courage bearer for each dimension would be sent to another world to complete the hero that originates from that land's destiny. Link re-read this passage a few times and then gazed at the mark on his left hand. Could this legend apply to him?
