Teacups and Late Night Reading
Ghost Hunt is Fuyumi Ono's story.

Setting: This takes place when Oliver is around 12 years old, in his house in England.
It was a beautiful teacup,
maybe that's why it's shattered pieces gleaming in the lamplight compelled him to pick them up by hand.

The wound cleaner stung as it was dabbed on the cut. It still felt unusual for an adult to be taking care of his injuries. In the past, his brother and himself looked after each other's injuries.
It wasn't an entirely unpleasant situation, he watched his adoptive father look down tenderly at the slice on his finger. It wasn't long before he had finished wrapping it and sat back with a sigh.
His adoptive father looked at him, catching his eyes, "Oliver, I truly appreciate you trying to take responsibility, but if anything breaks in the future that is as dangerous to clean up as this, I would rather you ask for help, rather than get hurt trying to clean it up yourself."
Oliver sat with a brooding look on his face, "that's fair," he replied standing. Martian stood as well. "I will be back in a moment." Martian stated, before leaving the room.
He returned with a broom and a dustpan. He handed Oliver the dustpan and together they cleaned up the rest of the pieces.
Martin left the room to dispose of the pieces and put the supplies away. When he finished he returned to Oliver's room once more.
He stood in the doorway, with a smile as he watched Oliver reading a book.
"I love to see how serious you are being in your studies, but it is almost midnight. You should be getting some sleep."
Oliver turned toward him, his face betrayed how sleepy he was. He turned off the lamp at his desk and crawled into bed. Using his actions to respond.
"Good Night" Martin said, turning to leave.
"Good Night" Oliver replied.
He closed his eyes and ran over what he had just read, until he drifted into sleep completely.

Summary: Noll is reading late at night and breaks a teacup he likes. The sound alerts Martian walking past his room. When he goes into Olivers room to investigate he finds Noll has cut himself trying to clean up. After working together to clean up the mess, they bid each other good night.
