Dark gray storm clouds rumbled overhead. Seconds later and miles away, lightening flashed and more thunder erupted. Shikamaru, hands shoved down deep in his pocket and neck craned upwards to see the sky, sighed. It was going to rain.
He glanced over at his companion. "Do you like the rain?"
"What?" Temari stopped their walk through Konoha to look at him, slightly suspicious. "Why do you ask?"
In that instant, the clouds opened up and rain started pouring down around them. Within ten seconds, both were soaked, and their hairstyles had gone flat.
She glared at him. "You just had to ask me, didn't you?"
Shikamaru, who had kept walking, stopped, and turned to look at her. "Well? Do you like rain?"
Temari looked at him in exasperation, then at the sky, then at him again, and sighed. As she caught up and they both begin to walk again she replied. "No, not really. It doesn't rain a lot in Suna, but when it does, it floods the entire damned city with mud. It's hell to clean up."
She could sense him nodding slightly. All was quiet for a moment.
"And you?" Temari asked without really looking at him. "Do you like the rain?"
They stopped walking as they approached the gates. "I like the feel of the rain." Shikamaru replied simply.
Temari stared at him for a moment, before going on. "I'll, uh, I'll see you in a couple weeks." She replied, turning to leave.
Shikamaru nodded again and waved his goodbye. She could feel him watching her until she get out of sight. She'd be back in a couple weeks. She could see him then.
--
The day after Temari got back to Suna was the first day it had rained in months. The sound of the water hitting her bedroom window slowly roused her awake. She sat up, staring out her window for a moment. Temari didn't know what possessed her to do so, but she slipped on her sandals and ran outside.
And stood there.
And when all the parents ushered their children inside and away from the rain, she stood there.
And when the ground grew soft around her, she stood there.
And when the rain flatten her hair again, she stood there.
And when she could finally hear one of her brothers yell "TEMARI!" when they couldn't find her, she still stood there.
She stood there, soaked to the bone, with her eyes closed and a small smiled on her face, just enjoying the feel of the rain.
Maybe the rain wasn't so bad after all.

Authors Note: Yeah, I don't know how good this really is. If anybody likes it, I may make more, like a one-shot series.
Useless Tidbit of the Day: Anyways, I was talking to my boyfriend the other day and I told him I didn't like rain, and he said he did, and it rained today and woke me up, which made me think of him, and this, and thus, this one-shot was made.
