The Fading Wood

Ent sings his last song as he fades into eternal slumber...

Summer died and left me this;
A last bright day, her parting kiss
A moment lingering, of bliss
Before the frost creeps in.
-
The songs of springtime take the skies
With thunderous applause they rise
Trilling out their last goodbyes
To forest, fern and fen.
-
The falling leaves in vain I clasp
For spring, it slips beyond my grasp
And dying branches sadly rasp
My forest's namarie
-
In glen and hollow, dim and deep
My children evermore I keep;
I bless them in my endless sleep,
They dream, they dream for me.
