"Light-kun the…" Gloom suffocated L's unfocused eyes that failed to absorb the scene before him. His fingertips met with the liquid cool of the large glass window. On the outside, a heavy storm brought chaos. It was almost as if a dragon of light were slithering through the clouds with an occasional growl to mark his rage along with his endless torrent of tears that trampled the ground. The night sky -illuminated with streaks of lightning and neon signs hanging on buildings- left an aching deep within his stomach. A simple sigh entered the world upon its departure from his mouth.

"What is it, Ryuzaki?" Curiosity created a smirk on Light's lips. He raised a brow, awaiting an answer from the unkempt man. Almost impatiently, he hopped up from the plush chair and walked over to L, who he now stood beside as a second witness to nature's fury. "Is something bothering you?"

"The storm!" Nibbling on his lower lip, L's wide eyes absorbed Light's figure. A sudden raging thunder caused the detective to flinch. He inched closer to the other male when another angry cry burst through the sky.

"Oh, Ryuzaki-" Light chuckled, a hand gliding through his neat hair. He found a hidden innocence in L's childish behavior that made his defenses fall back. Without thinking, he pulled the dark-haired man close and held him in his arms while the storm carried on. A secret smile lingered on his face when L held on tightly, his slightly trembling, his sweet and sugary scent wafting through the air. "-are you afraid of the storm?"

"Of course, Light-kun." L's matter-of-factly tone took Light by surprise. And while he stared back at the brunette, L tilted his head to the left, feeling his toes scrunch up on the carpet. All his fear was chased away when his awkward smile was returned with a gentler grin.

Light rested his forehead against L's, a hand softly brushing away dark strands of hair from his face. His wide-eyed friend looked at him with silent expectations. An invisible kiss briefly connected their lips. Possessively, Light draped his arms around the detective's waist once again and relaxed his head in the crook of the man's neck. Affectionate whispered words then lodged themselves forever in L's heart as Light spoke carefully.

"Well then, Ryuzaki, I promise I will protect you."

Notes: Nothing here today. Except that I'm getting more lazy as time passes and that I really need to get to work on my Godchild story and wrap it up. Lazy...I will blame it on the weather.
Oh, and my inspiration for this was when it was dark a few days ago and it was supposedly going to rain, but it never did...I enjoy the rain. It's peaceful, well except when it's a thunderstorm...
