Leo Valdez, son of Hephaestus thoughts are getting dark and gloomy these days. With no one to turn to, Leo remains lonely and bitter, but manages to pull off his usual poker face. That is until a certain Praetor of the Twelfth Legion and Senator of New Rome shows up. Valdez should be scared for his well-being and Reyna should have a grudge. But that is not at all what happens.

Are you insane, Valdez? This was almost as dangerous as falling head over heels for the evil ice goddess Khione. Leo had wondered what I'd ever saw in her anyway, fire and snow don't mix. Snap out of it. This time it is a girl who will kill him on sight if she had the chance. He had a vague memory of her long brown hair formed in an intricate braid, shining in the sunlight. The braids reminded Leo of braiding technology back in cabin 9- anchoring systems. Too bad I can't invent a girlfriend, friends oh and while you're at it a mom. Leo shook shook his head. Malo, malo Valdez don't think like that. Leo was walking in the woods trying to clear his mind of her burning image.

There was a faint rustling in the distance, presumably one of the Stoll's pulling another prank or perhaps a monster. "Don't be ashamed people are usually attracted to my tragic good-looks and creepily stalk me in woods, reveal yourself!"

Abruptly a dagger pinned his Camp HalfBlood T-shirt to tree behind him. Without warning Reyna staggered towards a very surprised Leo. "Er.. um.. want a mint?" Leo reached a mint out of his tool belt, still pinned to a tree. Reyna's once elegant purple toga was in tatters. Scratches and burns covered her body, strangely her hair was untouched. She had clearly been attacked by some kind of monster, and was not looking too good. Even though her appearance was disheveled Leo couldn't help but be captivated by her eyes, at first glance seem piercing but if you look deep enough hold years of sadness, that he recognized in his own reflection.

Leo was jerked back to reality when Reyna held the edge of a blade to his neck "So you're the one who destroyed my camp." She whispered, barely audible. Leo figured he'd better run before Reyna turned him into Valdez-Kabob. He could always take a stand, Reyna looked in no condition to fight, but he couldn't get himself to move. Besides, what was she doing here? Surely this must be an attack, and there will be more coming. Because of me screwing up. Leo pushed aside his thoughts, stupid ADHD. "Is it getting hot in here, or is it just me?" Leo then suddenly burst full out in flames. "You're insane, Valdez." Reyna mumbled then collapsed from exhaustion, leaving a flustered Leo behind.
