Sheldon was surprised when the bullet hit him, his first thought was of Penny. He wished she was with him to hold his hand and lie to him, tell him things would be alright.
Sheldon Cooper had never thought he would die in his office alone, after being shot by a former student. Maybe it had been a bad idea to give the student a B on their final paper after they had argued with Doctor Cooper that had to at least receive a B+ in his class to keep their scholarship. Sheldon shook his head, he didn't regret it. There was only one thing Sheldon Cooper regretted on his death bed and that was Penny.
He had fallen in love with her on the day they had met, she had been adorable, blonde and perfect: everything Sheldon had told himself he didn't want in a woman but knew he did. He had been stupid enough to let his roommate make the first move, to pretend he had no feelings for the girl next store. He had been forced to watch the only woman he had loved be taken in by his best friend's lies and be mistreated by him but he stayed quiet, after all Leonard was supposed to be his best friend. You didn't steal your best friend's girl.
Until one day Sheldon realized, Leonard was no longer his best friend, Penny was. After that Sheldon had done everything in his power to break the two up, stopping Penny from visiting Switzerland, giving Leonard bad advice and interrupting their intercourse. He couldn't stand for that little man to take what he wanted more than the Nobel Prize. They broke up like he knew they would but Sheldon knew that he would have to wait a little bit longer to make his move. 'It was too bad,' he thought staring at the blood flowing from his chest, 'he had taken too long to tell her and now she would never know.' He thought of her smile and again wished she was there as he whispered, 'I love you, Penny,' with his last breath.
