Blaise jolted awake at the sound of Gala's scream. "Blaise!" She was calling for him, obviously scared.
He darted into her bedroom, and found her sitting in bed, sweating and shaking. Gala looked up at the man standing before her, tears stained to her face. He tilted his head, giving her a look of concern. He kneeled down beside her. "What's wrong, my love?"
Gala seemed to watch his eyes as she spoke to him. "It was a dream, like how you taught me, but...more frightening," the young girl explained, her voice cracking from her crying. "Blaise, what was that? I don't like it." He gently wiped the tears from her face, kissing her cheek.
"Gala..." He was trying to think of how to explain it to her. "You had a nightmare. It's like a dream, but a bad dream. You're right, they are more frightening than other dreams, but they can't hurt you." He lowered his voice to a comforting whisper. "I promise, I'll protect you." His hand caressed her shoulder, and he stared into her eyes. "Would you like me to stay with you?"
She nodded, then hugged him tightly. "Thank you,Blaise."
He smiled, then whispered in her ear, "Of course. I wouldn't let a thing happen to you. Ever. Because you're the only girl I've loved this much."
