What happens when Sherlock's father arrives? Will he try to help or make things worse?

Unnecessary

Joan leans against the doorway to the kitchen watching Sherlock sit idle in the chair, staring into space. He's completely still which is odd for him, no signs of tapping or twitching… no signs of Sherlock.

The ringing of the doorbell startles Joan. Letting out a sigh she turns away from the kitchen and heads up the stairs. Looking through the peep hole she recognizes who stands on the other side of the door. She takes a deep breath in and opens the door.

"Miss Watson you're relieved of your duties" Sherlock's father announces walking past her

"I'm what?" Joan asks dumbfounded closing the door before turning to stare at the man

"You're not needed anymore" he nods dismissing her with a wave of his hand, checking the living room for any sign of his son

"Excuse me but this is my home too and I'm not going anywhere, not now. I've been with Sherlock for the most part of three years, he needs me an…"

"Yes until you decide to leave" he interrupts

"That's not going to happen"

"You've done it once before Miss Watson"

Joan stares at him mouth agape, fire in her eyes "I don't know what your problem is with me Mr Holmes but you can either work with me or against me. I'm not leaving"

"Miss Watson" he starts, watching her fold her arms over her chest. "I don't think that's your call…"

"She's not leaving" Sherlock interrupts him, neither having seen him approach. Joan gives him a small smile. "It has, it has taken me a while to realize that, not that I want you to leave but I was pretty certain after this stint, this mistake, that you would. But I know better, I know you" Sherlock smiles slightly looking straight in to Joan's eyes.

Mr Holmes looks between the two letting out a sigh "Very well"

"So" Sherlock announces rocking back and forth on the balls of his feet "This talk was rather unnecessary, what now?"

I know it's short but it's just a little something I had in my head.
