The Salamander and the Celestial mage sat in the middle of nowhere. Natsu sat in the pouring rain, with a pale Lucy lying on his lap. He held her close, trying to make her warm. They just sat there in silence.

"Natsu," Lucy whispered bringing her cold hand to stroke his cheek. "Sing for me."

He smiled at her, and hugged her close to his body, taking a deep breath.

"Anything for you Lucy."

You are my sunshine,

my only sunshine

His voice was deep, and it sounded broken. He affectionately nuzzled his head into the crook of her neck.

You make me happy

when skies are grey

He sang, and yet his voice was cracking. She held his hand, telling him to continue on.

You never know dear,

how much I love you

He paused for a moment and stared into Lucy's chocolate-brown eyes. He continued on for her, and only her.

Please don't take my sunshine away.

He finished the last line and looked at her. She stared back, and smiled at him. Slowly, her grip on his hand weakened, and she gave him one last smile, before closing her eyes. He just sat there, watching her. He waited for her to open her eyes again, even though he knew she would not. He hugged her cold, lifeless body, and sang the last line.

Please don't take my sunshine away.

Minna, how was it?

Please review!

"You are My Sunshine" inspired me to write this.

For some reason, every time I hear this song, it makes me think of Natsu and Lucy.

I'm not really good at making tragic one-shots, but I try.

I'm a horrible person. I keep on killing Lucy off.

Like in my other one-shot "In an Instant" Lucy died, and now in this...

It's not that I hate Lucy, it's just sadder when the female dies...
