a short summary of this story:
We all know the story of Percy Jackson, but what if his story was… different? Imagine this, while Percy was growing up and spending time in Camp with all his demigod mates, there was a little girl out there who thought she was normal. She had a loving family and an all American life, but little did she know that there was a connection there. One that would change both of their lives forever.
Hey guys! It's me back with the same story, just with a few changes. Paige is 16, and this should be a bit more mature and better thought out.
*Paige's POV*
"Paige! Get up please!" yelled my mother's voice from downstairs. "The plane leaves at 7:00. If you make us late you will not be getting that new book you wanted!" she continued. I sat up in bed and rubbed the sleep from my eyes. I leaned to my right and grabbed my phone from my desk that was next to my bed. At first, I shielded my eyes from the bright light, I allowed my eyes to adjust then looked at the time, it read 4:00 am. I sighed and pushed the fluffy purple comforter off my short clad legs. I groaned at how cold my room was. This is the worst part of vacations, I thought to myself. I trudged forward groggily to the bathroom.
The bathroom is the messiest room in the Bryant house. Now the first thing you need to know is that I have 2 brothers. I was fine with just Sean, who is turning 18 this year, but my parents decided that it was a good idea to have one more kid and so Daniel was born 5 years after me. My brothers are epic slobs to the point to where a couple of years ago I had to start putting my toothbrush and hairbrush in Ziploc baggies. If I didn't do this, the boys would get toothpaste and hair gel and who even knows what else all over my stuff. Disgusting is the only word to describe it.
I grabbed the two bags that held my toothbrush and my hairbrush. I brushed my hair quickly and stuffed it up into a messy bun and then I brushed my teeth. After this, I put the toothbrush into a clean travel container and slipped it into my backpack along with my brush. I went back to my room to get dressed and pack a couple last minute things.
I grabbed some clothes real quick, a sweatshirt I had gotten on a college visit - which brings us to the second thing you should know, I love purple, and so it was only fitting that the sweatshirt was purple and had big letters that said ACU on it- and some athletic pants. I pulled out more socks from my drawers, making sure that I have enough and then pulling some on my feet. I put my shoes by my door before grabbing my phone and headphones. I decided to play some Ed Sheeran as I grabbed a few last things. I grabbed little things like my laptop, a couple books, my pillow, and other things. When I was finished I put on my backpack and put my duffel bag on my shoulder then grabbed both my suitcases. I went downstairs and called to my mom," Mom! I'm ready!"
"Okay," she called back. I went into the garage where my brothers and dad were getting the car ready. I handed my stuff off to the boys and said good morning. They packed the stuff into the car and I went inside and ate breakfast.
We got to the airport at 5:23 and boarded the plane around 7. I sigh of relief, this way I get a vacation and a new book. If my parents don't buy me the book I won't get it at all, I had to quit my job a few ago because school was getting to be too much. Whatever money I have left is put away for good souvenirs from New York. I guess if I don't use all my money I can pitch in for the book.
On the plane I was watching Netflix I had downloaded onto my phone. When there had been too much turbulence for me to handle I turned off my phone and put it away laying my head back to rest. After that, the turbulence had pretty much stopped.
I was getting tired and we still had about four hours of flying left so I decided to shut my computer and then I slipped it back into my backpack then slid my backpack under my seat. "Sean, will you please wake me up before we land?" I asked.
"Yeah, sure," he said not looking up from the game he was playing on his phone.
"Thanks," I said. I turned to my side and tried to get as comfortable as I could in the stiff seat of the airplane. Eventually, I fell asleep in the best position I could find.
I woke to Sean saying, "Paige wake up. Ten minutes till we land." I sat up and rubbed my eyes I looked out the window because I had the window seat with Sean in the middle and Daniel closest to Mom and Dad. As I looked out the window I saw the Statue of Liberty and the Brooklyn Bridge. We landed at noon just as planned. We got off the plane and headed to the luggage claim to grab our stuff, after that we hailed a cab to the hotel.
On the road to the hotel, we made plans for what we wanted to do with the two weeks that we would be here. Sean wanted to see the top of the Lady Liberty and Daniel protested incessantly. You should know that Daniel is terrified of heights because when he was little he fell off the top of a playground and broke his arm and got stitches on his forehead. Needless to say, he was traumatized and refused to go on anything more than 3-4 feet of the ground. Dad told him that he would stay on the ground with him while the rest of us went up, that quieted him.
When we got to the hotel, our parents gave us 20 minutes to settle in before we headed to dinner. We had decided in the cab that we would go to Chinatown to shop and have some dinner before heading back to watch a movie at the hotel in our parents' room (Sean and I had an adjacent room right next to Mom, Dad, and Daniel so we weren't too cramped).
Chinatown just swept me off my feet! It was beautiful. We passed by all sort of little shops. I bought a ring that looks like it would be $50 for $12! Mom got a cute scarf for a cheap price as well. They had so many trinkets and cool shops. We walked around for what felt like forever.
At about 6:30 we stopped at a Chinese restaurant to eat. The service there was freaky fast. We had dumplings and fried rice, real and authentic Chinese food. After that, we walked back to the hotel which wasn't too far away. We ended up watching a movie that was on, "Radio" I think it was called. When the movie ended Sean and I walked through the door in the wall that connected our two rooms. We said goodnight then went to bed. Although, I had some trouble sleeping after I began to think about all that I was excited to do here in New York.
Well, there's the revised first chapter! It is still really short but I'm hoping the more we dive into the story the longer the chapters will get. I hope it's better and you guys like it! I don't have as much time as I would like to work on projects like these so I will try to do as much as I can but it will be a slow process. Thank you to those who have stuck with me! Enjoy! Bye!
