Chapter 1

One day Lorelai and Luke's 18 year old son is sitting in school at his desk just writing stuff down for his debating class in his notebook about why he should be able to be 18 without any rules.

1. Will parents be liable for any negligence their children committed who are above the age of 21 but still living at home?

Answer No. The kid is totally responsible after age 18.

2. Young people who live at home as parasites have fools for parents who let them get away with anything they want.

3. Even if a newly legal adult is still in high school, a parent is under no legal pressure, frequently, to continue to provide housing or care.

4. Legally, your parents can't make you stay; if they do they can find themselves in legal trouble.

5. once you're 18, legally you don't have to listen to your parents.

6. When you turn 18, you are legally an adult. Unless a court ruling states otherwise, your parents "legal" obligation to maintain control and protect the welfare of the child ends at the age of 18.

7. Children will become old enough so that they must care for themselves and their future children.

8. LEGALLY: If the 18 year old is living under your roof, instead of being the 'parent' you become the 'landlord' - even if the child is still in high school or college.

9. The age of majority is the age when young people are considered adults. Connecticut, as many other states, has determined the age of majority to be 18 years of age or older. Individuals are treated as adults in every aspect

10. You achieve both the rights AND the responsibilities of being an adult member of society, severed from your parents/guardians, and totally responsible for your own actions.

11. You also have the right to move out, get a job and be on your own.

12. Once a person reaches 18 years of age, and is mentally competent, they don't have to go to their parents for anything.
