The Joke's On Who?
Author: Anime Ronin
Rating: Mature
Summary: YAHF, sorta – it's the aftermath of a total lack of options.
Disclaimer: I own neither Buffy nor DC.
AN: Probably a little darker than what I normally do, but we all have those moments.
(Sunnydale High)
Xander Harris looked in the mirror of the boy's restroom and, for the fifth time in ten minutes, tried to scrub away the pale makeup he'd applied earlier that night.
Nothing.
Feeling his temper getting away from him, he held his head under the water and tried to wash the green dye out of it with hand soap.
Again, nothing.
He snarled and slammed his fist into the mirror, shattering it and sending shards of glass and pain flying through his hand. The pain distracted him from the terror he was feeling, that he had felt ever since he had realized that he didn't have much of a choice when it came to his costume… that of a clown. He also realized that this was also a hell of his own making – instead of a regular clown, he'd gone as a clown that everyone would recognize and some might not give him any shit over: The Joker.
The snarl left his face and a slight grin replaced it. Yes, the Joker, the Clown Prince of Crime… Buffy had been stunned when he'd shown up at her front door to collect her and Willow, but Willow had been speechless.
He was more than a little shocked when he raised his hand to the tiled wall and began to write, 'Ha-ha- ha- ha- ha- ha- ha- ha- ha- ha!' over, and over and over again. It felt… soothing, cathartic, and it beat the hell out of crying.
The door to the bathroom opened and a female voice called in, "Mistah J? You in there?"
'Mister J'? "…Yes, Harley, I am."
"Oh, goodie. Are we gonna leave now, Mistah J? It's getting' creepy here, even for a school."
He reached out to the paper towel dispenser and grabbed a few, wrapping his hand in them, "This school is creepier than most, Harley. Come, though, we have work to do."
She cut a very fine figure in the tight outfit, one that accentuated her figure and yet also did the same for her pixie-like cuteness. He would have fun breaking her again and again and again.
Harmony Kendall smiled at him, "What are we gonna do tonight, Mistah J?"
He grinned at her, a grin that was as evil as it was psychotic, "Why, we're going to have a real gas tonight, Harley."
AN: As I said, a little darker than my normal stuff. Probably a one-shot but you never know. Reviews, please.
