Thump. A scream. As I flew through the air, I felt confused. Who was screaming? Why were they screaming? A truck roared past.
Oh. I was hit by that car, wasn't I? I thudded onto the ground, staring blankly at the sky. Darkness crept onto the edges of my vision. The sounds of people yelling and running towards me seemed muffled and distant. My body felt like it was freezing and burning at the same time and yet somehow it didn't feel painful. As sirens wailed, I asked myself, Is this death? I closed my eyes. Death feels so peaceful.
And the world faded away.

Hiryuu Castle, the Kingdom of Kouka
"Your Majesty, the child is born. A daughter."
King Il stood and strode into the bedroom. Inside, a young woman lay on a large bed, smiling softly. In her arms she held the newborn princess.
"Isn't she beautiful?" she murmured, gently stroking the child head.
"She is." He replied.
Outside the castle, the sun was rising, shedding rays of light over the kingdom and tinting the sky a million shades of red. But the brightest and most beautiful red of all was the color of the baby's hair.
The king smiled down at his queen and daughter. "Her name will be Yona. Princess Yona of Kouka."
And from the Princess's eyes, a young woman from another world stared around her at this strange new world.
