One beautiful day a young Gelfling was sitting in the meadow near the edge of the Podling village. It was Kira and she was out spending time in the meadow as she often did. Kira was planning on returning home to the Podlings when she heard a strange sound, almost like a growl. She quickly decided that she must have been imagining the noises and stood up to go home. It wasn't long before Kira began hearing the growling noise again and deciding to investigate. In addition to the sounds, Kira suddenly noticed a rustling among the tall grasses and bushes, as if something was in there and it wasn't just the wind or her mind playing tricks. She decided that she had better get home and began running down the path only to have the feeling of something following her but when she looked back she saw nothing. During dinner, Kira told her adoptive mother Ydra about what she had seen and heard. Ydra paused and asked "you heard it too? I was around there the other day and heard a growling noise. I thought I was hearing things but now I know I wasn't since you heard it too." Kira said that she would go back after dinner to see what was in the meadow. It was dusk outside and just as Kira was beginning her walk, she heard the same growl she had heard earlier but this time it was at her feet. She then looked down to see a small brown fluffy creature that appeared to be all mouth. Kira decided to keep him and show him to Ydra. She decided to name him Fizzgig, meaning "brown fuzz" in the Podling language. Kira and Fizzgig have been friends ever since.
