Why does his heart flutter and his chest tighten at her mere presence? But what a presence it was. Not another soul on this planet could make him feel so vulnerable, so self conscious and so distracted. And although these feelings are foreign to a man who generally holds a powerful demeanour, he wouldn't trade it for the world. I miss you, I need you, I want you, I crave you, I love you. I would tell you exactly how I feel about you but there isn't a word in the English language that could adequately describe the beauty you encompass. Harvey subconsciously loosens his tie, mesmerized by her glow and proceeds to shift his gaze in the opposite direction as she prances out of sight. How could these walls be made of glass but she can't see what's going on inside? Harvey's got a desire he can't ignore. Arising from his seat, he gently approaches the desk located outside his colleagues office.
"How can I help you, Harvey?" His name slips off her tongue so elegantly, he's never gotten goosebumps so fast. Friends.
"Can you help me type up some briefs. I gave Gretchen the day off."
"I don't think Louis would appreciate me working for you."
He can feel his heart beating through his chest and the blood rushing through his body. He eyes Donna up and down, her figure wrapped in a skin tight Alexander McQueen dress. Harvey leans in and whispers, the warm breath hitting her skin, sending shivers down her spine. He knew full well the effect he had on her and used it to his advantage.
"You and I both know why I'm here."
He states, followed by a smirk.
"Then you remember me telling you that that night was a one time thing and it never should've happened."
"Why not?" His smirk gradually forms into a pout. Donna knew she would never hear the end of it.
"Because we were both tipsy that night and in light of recent events, I don't think pursuing a relationship is the smartest idea right now."
"Okay, fine. We can skip the cuddling and go straight to the sex-"
"Harvey I'm serious," and she hated being right because there's nothing she craved more than his body against her own.
"Donna, I'm serious too. We don't need to be in a relationship right now, but don't tell me you didn't want it that night as much as I did." Harvey can't resist the urge to stare at Donna's soft lips and bite his own.
"You know I wanted it." she whispers.
"Nothing has to change. Just two friends who are comfortable enough with each other to relive past events that we both know we want." Harvey grips both the handles on her chair and rolls her closer so that their faces are barely touching.
"Harvey," Her mind is racing but without a doubt this is what she wants. "If I agree to this, the ball is in my court and we do things my way. That's my first rule." A smile brighter than the sun creeps it's way onto Harvey's face.
"What's your other rule?"
"I'll tell you when I think of it."
"Absolutely. Why don't you come to my condo tonight so we can discuss this in detail?"
"I'll see you tonight Harvey, but right now you can let me finish my work." And with nothing but a wink, Harvey's already making his way back. Simultaneously, they both stop to wonder whether this is what friends do. Friends.
