The Saddened Sky
By: Lady Starlight
Duo stared at the girl walking next to him. Her gaze was pointed upwards to the sky, her crystalline blue eyes deep in thought. She was a goddess with long blonde hair done up in the oddest style imaginable, blue eyes that were usually brimming with happiness and a body that any girl would kill to have. The girl turned to her companion making her golden bangs sway with the movement. She took in his looks for a moment. A long chocolate brown braid hung down his back while his bangs brushed into his eyes hiding their violet color. "Duo," she asked. The boy turned to the voice that could only be compared to as silver bells. "Yeah." "Why is the sky blue?" It was one of those childish questions that everyone comes up with but never bothers to ask and ends up having a complicated answer. Duo turned to face her. "I really don't know Serena, but I'll tell you if I find out. Ok?" "Alright." With that the two went their separate ways. They would come back every morning and Serena would ask the same question which Duo could not answer. But then one day he called Serena and asked her to take a walk with him, she agreed. "Serena, do you remember the first time you asked me about the sky?" he asked as they walked. "Yes, why?" "Because I finally know the answer. You see, once a long time ago, the sky held an angel. She had golden hair and blue eyes that one could drown in. One day she went to earth and fell in love with a boy there. She loved him so much that she decided to stay on earth with him. Saddened by the loss of the angel that had once flown in their embrace the sky turned to a light blue color to forever remind the people of the angel that graced a mortal with her heavenly presence." "That's a very nice story, Duo, but it doesn't tell me anything." "Yes it does, Serena, the sky is sad because you came down to earth to be with me and I was hoping you'd stay angel." "Oh, Duo." With that Serena kissed him. Several years later two kids went up to their mother and asked why the sky was blue and she told them to ask their father because only he knew the true meaning, and so they went.
