Haldir was patrolling the borders of Lothlorien. He was walking when suddenly he heard a noise. He turned around, ready to shoot. In front of him was nothing. He silently put his bow and arrow back, smiling to himself for being to cautious.

Day after day of patrolling his home and shooting orks that made it that far, he got used to being cautious. That day he heard bad news. He and his army were to get to Helms Deep and help out the men.

After about a week of marching and being tired, they arrived the night of the scheduled battle. They blew their elven horns, waiting for the men to accept them in. The door finally opened. Haldir marched his troops inside the walls and commanded them to stop in front of the king. "There once was an alliance between men and elves, we fought and died together. We come here to renew that alliance." He said. Aragorn suddenly came up and hugged Haldir, maybe for saving the men, or for not seeing him for so long, ether way, he still hugged him. It was almost time.

The men used everyone they could; after all they were battling ten thousand Uruk-Hai. The elves lined up neatly. Soon the men followed. After half an hour of getting organized, they stood there lined up straight right against the wall. The wall that divided the safety of the men and the outer world. Soon the Uruk-Hai came. There were many of them. They were so many that you could hear them draw breath. The little boys were scared. They weren't even trained properly. Some could even barely hold a sword.

They prepared their fire. Impatiently they waited to shot, until King Theoden couldn't stand it any more. It was to quiet. Soon the first Uruk- hai fell to the ground. Arrows shooting both ways, it was hard to see anything. Haldir kept shooting, he felt safe up on the wall. Soon the Uruk- Hai began to climb the wall with latters. Haldir knew of this, but didn't take it seriously. After all, the men should have take care of it. Little did he know how poorly the men did.

Haldir kept shooting. He was growing low on arrows. He kept shooting however, until he felt it. He felt the cold, hard metal slash his back. Not slash but lacerate. He felt his body growing weak and his pain increasing. The rush of blood was also increasing. Haldir fell to his knees. All he could think about is his life. So many things he has seen, so many places he has been. He felt warmness against his cold body. It was Aragorn. He couldn't speak. He couldn't think anymore, he was dead.
