Okay, decided to write another song fic. The scene depicted: Stanton is being tracked by Regulators and is wounded. He returns to see Serena for the last time. (I know, I am rather morbid)

Ahem… Our story begins on a dark night….

Stanton pressed at the wound, it was deep and made by a Regulator's claws, and it would never heal. (A/N: I don't care if that's not correct, I like it (also, I don't care if he's the Prince of Night, this is my story! I do what I want! )

His shadowy form crept into Serena's room, his hand automatically reaching to turn her bedside clock so it faced the wall. He breathed gently into her ear. "Serena" he whispered. Her sleeping form smiled at the sound of his voice. Stanton kissed her forehead gently. Serena's eyelashes fluttered and she sleepily opened her eyes.

"Stanton," she said, reaching to embrace him. She put her hand on his back and felt the sticky warmth of blood. She snapped her hand back "What happ…" she started to ask. Stanton put his finger to her lips to silence her.

"Regulators," Serena looked fearful, he was blocking his mind from her. "Don't worry, I'm as good as dead now." His weary smile turned into a wince of pain. "I came to say goodbye." This time Serena was expecting the blood, but it did not effect how tightly she held on. She felt the blood trickle through her fingers as she held on for dear life. Stanton wrapped his arms around her.

Hold on to me love

You know I can't stay long

"I love you," said Serena. Tears coursed their way down her cheeks.

"I love you too."

All I wanted to say

Was I love you and I'm not afraid

Stanton's vision was starting to blur with tears of his own. I can't stay, he told her.

I want you here with me till the end she replied.

Can you hear me?

Can you feel me in your arms?

Dying didn't seem so bad at the moment, but it was getting a little hard to breathe. But he had to hold on for just a little longer, Serena needed him.

Holding my last breath

Safe inside myself

Are all my thoughts of you

Sweet raptured light

It ends here tonight

"We'll meet again, right?" asked Serena, drawing in a ragged breath.

"I hope so, if you become a guardian of the moon, I think we will."

I'll miss the winter

A world of fragile things

Stanton laughed softy wiping at a stray tear. "Keep your eyes open for me." Serena gave a half-sob, half-laugh and started crying again.

Look for me in the white forest

Hiding in a hollow tree (Come find me)

"Hey," said Stanton. "What's with the tears, I'm not gone yet." A wave of dizziness passed over him and he was forced to lie down on the bed. Serena curled up next to him and he wrapped his arms around her. She kissed him, and a tear landed on his lips.

I know you can hear me

I can taste it in your tears

Holding my last breath

Safe inside myself

Are all my thoughts of you

Sweet raptured light

It ends here tonight

Serena clenched her eyes shut. Maybe it's just a dream she thought.

Closing your eyes to disappear

You pray your dreams will leave you here

She opened her eyes. Stanton's arms were wrapped around her and his ragged breath whispered in her ear. Serena looked at him, his eyes were shut tight in pain, he was almost gone.

But still you wake and know the truth

No one's there

His eyes snapped open all of a sudden. I have to leave you now, his mind whispered.

Say goodnight

Please don't begged Serena

Don't be afraid

His eyes flickered shut. "Stanton? Stanton!"

Calling me calling me as you fade to black

He was gone. Serena clung to him, but it was only a few seconds before his body turned to shadow, and she was left alone.
