I do not own NCIS or their characters.

Leroy Jethro Gibbs sighed to himself as he closed his front door. He hated having to go to the Navy yard on the weekends; he would rather be sanding his boat instead. As he approached his car, he could feel somebody pulling on his shirt, and instantly turned around.

He was shocked and confused.

A small boy, who looked like he was either 10 or 11 was crying and pulling on his shirt. Gibbs's first thought was that the boy was hurt, and quickly asked for what his name was.

"A-Anthony DiNozzo or simply Tony" he whispered, as his grip loosened.

"I'm Leroy Jethro Gibbs, but you can just call me Gibbs. What's the matter?"

"Gibbs… I don't know! My parents … they haven't come home! They... They said they had to leave … without me!" Anthony said, as he began crying once again. Gibbs gently put a reassuring hand on his shoulder, and led him back inside his home. Tony did not complain.

"I will be back in a minute; I just got to make a phone call."

After Gibbs was finished on the phone, he walked back into his living room to where Tony was sitting. "Ok, so tell me exactly what happened," Gibbs ordered calmly.

"Ahh yesterday, after I came home from School they were packing bags … I thought we were moving again, but they told me they had to leave me and I wasn't allowed to go with them."

"Do you know why they had to leave?" Gibbs asked.

"NO! IF I DID I WOULDN'T BE HERE!"

Gibbs was shocked by his outburst, but easily hid it. "I'm sorry…"

"Never apologize; it's a sign of weakness. Do you have any other family?"

Tony looked towards the ground as he spoke, "No, not that I know of … what will happen to me?"

Gibbs studied the boy for a few minutes. He was devastated, and scared. But Gibbs had a feeling that he couldn't explain; it was as though the kid and him had a special connection. "I don't know."

Tony sighed, and studied the man in front of him. He seemed very loyal and trustworthy, something that his father was not. "C-Can't I stay here with you?" he whispered, dropping his gaze to the floor once more.

"How about, you stay here for the night and figure this out tomorrow?" Gibbs asked, but he already knew what he was going to do.

"… Okay, d-do you have any movies?" he asked, with a small smile.

"No sorry, I usually just work on my boat."

"What boat?"

Gibbs smiled, and gestured with one finger for him to follow. He did so obediently.

"Want to help?" Gibbs asked, as he grabbed a sander.

"But I don't know how!" Tony complained, as he folded his arms over his chest.

"Come on!" Gibbs said, as Tony walked towards him. Tony grabbed the sander and started sanding.

"Now you want to go with the grain," Gibbs instructed as he placed his hand over Tony's and helps him for the next several hours.

Tony yawned, and Gibbs smirked. "Come on, bed time," Gibbs said, as Tony pouted.

"Now DiNozzo!" Gibbs barked, playfully causing the small boy to laugh.

Once Tony was changed into one of Gibbs' NCIS tops and boxers, he climbed into the spare bedrooms bed and made himself comfy. Gibbs walked in shortly afterwards.

"Goodnight Tony," Gibbs said, as he flicked of the light switch.

"Goodnight Gibbs."

The Next Day

"How would you like to live with me kiddo?" Gibbs asked at lunch time.

"REALLY?" Tony asked, a smile spreading on his face.

"Yes Tony, so what do you think?"

"Yes! This is going to be fun!" Tony said, as he hugged Gibbs.

Gibbs chuckled and hugged him back, before cleaning the table.

"Now I need to teach you my rules…"
