The Purple Rain logo had seen better days and the black base had faded to dim charcoal, but enthusiastic wear and crazy adventures had made the ancient fabric silky and soft.
"Fifty cents," the woman replied absently as she kept an eye on the unruly teenagers who were practicing their hazardous skateboard tricks in the driveway.
Stef found a half dollar in her coin purse, glancing down at it as she handed it over.
