Summary: And that scared her more than acknowledging that she was powerless. For 30hath's May 26th – he also had the power to crush her heart.

Draco had told her love was stupid. That all it did was mess with your brain and your heart and to never trust it. It would be better for her to just be alone.

Daphne told her that she was making a mistake, that there were better men in the world than Harry Potter, that she knew two of them, and that she needed a clue.

Blaise told her that she never thought of her as the stupid sort until this new development, and that she was going to end up as broken-hearted as Ginny Weasley, more so even, because she had this mentality that she was special.

Pansy didn't believe any of them.

Granger had told her that despite their differences, she felt she should warn Pansy that Harry wasn't the right guy for her, and had even said that Draco or Blaise would suit her better it was implied that they'd treat her better, but Pansy ignored that.

Ginny had said she'd end up just like her – broken, shattered into a million little pieces that would probably never piece together right because she'd be so sure that Harry was the one – only to find out the contrary.

Weasley had told her that Harry had things to concentrate on. Important, war-centric things, and had practically begged her to reconsider such a relationship with Harry. That, as Harry's best friend, he knew that there could be no good to come from this and that she should save herself the trouble.

She didn't listen to any of them, either.

Because Harry – Harry said, "I love you."

And because Harry said, "I only want you."

And because Harry said, "What they say doesn't matter; it's not true."

And because Harry said, "I need you."

And, yes, there is some part of her that recognizes that if even Harry's best friends would warn her off, there's a problem. Yes, the side of her loosely known as common sense did in fact exist.

But she loved him, as much as he loved her. Maybe more. She wanted to be with him. Needed to be with him. And even though she'd obviously let him have all the power, even though he also had the power to crush her heart, crust it and make it crumble to dust…

She couldn't find it in herself to care. And that scared her more than acknowledging that she was powerless.
