'Harry, this is crazy! Where on earth are you taking us?' Hermione shouted at Harry, who was now a long way in front of her. Battling the fierce wind, she continued to drag Ron, running frantically to catch up with Harry.
Finally, after what seemed an age, Harry had to stop to catch his breath, and Hermione finally reached him, as he leant on a tree, gasping for air.
'Had to… know he's here… something's happened… I saw it!' He spun round madly; his eyes, though hazy with exhaustion darted around searchingly.
'Harry…' Hermione began quietly, having let go of Ron's arm, leaving him to sit down. 'This is insane. We've been running for hours, and we still haven't found anyone. Who are we even looking for?' she finished, exasperated.
'I don't know.' He shook his head sadly, and sighed. 'I was just so sure…' he trailed off.
'I know Harry, and I know you've been right about these things before, but do you realise how stupid this was? What's going to happen when we go back? Everyone's going to be scared senseless when they realise we've just disappeared! We can't just keep doing this, it's not safe!' Her voice was rising dangerously, and Harry was making desperate motions to try and quieten her down.
Ron, by this point, had joined them, having suitably got his breath back, and it was now Hermione's turn to do so. Ron took advantage of her breathlessness, and, trying to look on the bright side of things said,
'Well, at least this has given us a bit of exercise, eh?' Hermione shot him a dirty look, while Harry closed his eyes. He was still determined that this little escapade hadn't been in vain.
'I guess Hermione's right,' he stated resignedly. 'Let's just go back. We'll have to think of an excuse when we get there. I'm sure-' He stopped abruptly, seeing the look on Ron's face. Following his gaze, he saw that the clouds had shifted, allowing a small beam of moonlight to illuminate a patch of grass, by a cluster of trees. And there, lying completely motionless, was a huddled, black mass. Hermione gave a small gasp.
'It doesn't look like we'll be going back any time soon Harry.'
