This is just a little short story that popped into my head when I was trying to write some other fanfic. It's funny how that always happens.

"I said I was sorry, you know," she said in a soft voice.
"Sorry? That's it?" he retorted angrily.
"What do you want me to say?"
"You're sorry" he said his chin quivering.
She gave him an odd smile "But I did"
"I know," he said, his heart breaking.
"Sometimes," she said taking his hand "Things don't always work out the way we want them to"
"But, I thought we were supposed to be an exception to that rule?"
"I loved you," she said giving his hand a squeeze. "But, what I have now is better than what we ever had"
He couldn't believe she was saying that. What she had now was better than the two of them together?
"Are you for real? What are you talking about?"
She looked at her watch and bit her lip. It was almost time to go, she had to meet him in about five minutes.
"Of course I'm for real," she said getting up. "I love David" then she walked into the direction of the docks where he could see him waiting for her.
"I gotta go," she said and Shelby ran away from Scott to go see her newfound love.
Why am I always the last to know? He thought, sighing unhappily.
Scott woke up in his bed covered in sweat. He looked around the cabin. Everyone was in their beds except for...DAVID!!!
His breathing increased and he started getting up until the bathroom door opened and David came out holding a glass of water. Scott looked up and stared at him.
"What?" he said shrugging his shoulders, and some water spilled out of his glass. "I was thirsty!" he said in a hushed whisper.
Scott sighed in relief, and lay down and turned over.
"Go to sleep, David"
