Harry stared out the window. The moon was high up in the sky on this particular night. Its silvery gray color reminded him of the eyes of the one he loved….
The battle was over. Voldemort had fallen. But in a tragic turn of events, so had Draco Malfoy. Voldemort did not like traitors. His escaped Death Eaters hunted down Draco easily. With one flick of a wand, he was gone forever.
Reminiscing brought tears to Harry's eyes. He began to remember one particular moment he and Draco had shared….
"Are you sure about this, Harry?" Draco asked with a hint of nervousness in his voice.
"One hundred percent, Dray," Harry replied. Inside, he was very nervous, but Draco needed someone brave.
"Well, we should go, right?"
"I suppose." Harry took a deep breath and walked into the Room of Requirement, which was a location for the D. A. meetings currently. Draco was on his heels.
Once inside, Harry grabbed Draco's hand. Draco smiled.
Everyone looked at them. Some people were confused, others completely shocked to see Harry and Draco together without spells flying in every direction.
Harry ripped his hand from Draco's. Pulling out his wand, he ran out the door, followed by many confused looks.
Draco followed him out. "What the Hell was that?" he asked.
"Just leave me alone, okay?" Harry yelled.
"It was your idea to tell them, not mine!" Draco bellowed back, his voice breaking.
"Well it was a mistake. Going out with you was just one big mistake! If you hadn't come along and confused me with something I'm not, I'd be with Ginny! You did NOTHING for me!" Harry looked at Draco in rage. Then, with a loud sob, he leaned against the stone wall.
"It's okay, Harry," Draco said calmly as ever.
"No, it's not. What's wrong with me, Dray?" Harry choked out the words.
"Nothing! You're perfect as ever. I know how you feel. Confused, different, maybe even a little scared. I've been there before. But it doesn't change anything. Feeling sorry for yourself doesn't help you at all. It's just a waste of time."
"It's all new to me. I knew it'd take some time to get used to, but I just can't face everyone, Draco! Not all at once. I'm not ready."
"I know. When you are, I'll be right by your side. I love you, Harry."
It was the first time either of them had ever said those three simple words.
"I love you too, Dray."
Harry returned Draco's smile. Then, without any thought, he leaned in to kiss the one he loved….
Tears were leaking down Harry's face. Draco's voice echoed in his ears, Draco's lips moved against his once again….
But it was only Harry's imagination. Draco was gone.
Harry cried silently for a while, but then remembered Draco's words. "Feeling sorry for yourself doesn't help at all. It's just a waste of time."
With a gulp of air, Harry focused on the present and the future, which was looking brighter each day. Draco's kindness would live on; Harry would make sure of it.
