"You're shaking a bit, Xephos. Are you alright?"

All the light had gone. The torches lost their purpose and the sun had gone down hours and hours ago. We were stuck in a cave waiting for morning...in the deep dark. We couldn't leave our safe place in fear of being attacked by monsters. We had to stay put and I was fine with that but him on the other hand...

"I'm... fine..."

Though I couldn't see his face or anything for that matter, his shoulder brushed against mine. He had moved closer to me and admittingly, I had let him. Even though I didn't want to say it, I knew why. "Would you like to hold my hand?"

I wish I could have seen his expression as he moved away. "I-I beg your pardon?"

I looked up into the void and sighed, "It'll be alright. I promise."

"W-what are you talking about?"

"It won't be dark forever."

"I didn't-"

"So don't be afraid, okay?" I turned my head to look in his direction. A very faint outline of his face was all I could see and I wished even harder that I could see it clearer.

"... You knew?"

I nodded, though pointless. "It does explain the excessive placing of torches. Sorry. I realized a little too late." I felt really bad that I had caused this. If I would have known, this situation wouldn't have happened.

His outline lowered and he whimpered a bit. In the dark, he managed to find my hands and take hold of them gratefully. To my surprise, he allowed me to see how vulnerable he was. "No... I should have told you before this happened... I was scared and I am scared... S-sorry.."

He trembled and without even thinking, I reached out and embraced him. He sobbed quietly and I held him closer. "It will be alright. You can rely on me from now on."

For the longest time, we just sat in the darkness. He begged me to keep this a secret and I agreed to do so. After that, he seemed to drift off to sleep. I couldn't see his face and I begged time to move faster, For the sun to come up and shed light on him for his and my sake.

A/N: This was based off a prompt: "YogB of your ship tries to help Xephos confront his overwhelming fear of the dark when they are trapped in a cave without torches." I just had to write something for this. So damn cute.
