Storm at sea.

It was in the time when the Romans still ruled the world. They were feared among all cultures, pirates included.
However, there was one little pirate village, on a remote island, that could offer resistance to them. How? It was a high Island, with but one reachable shore. The water around the Island was covered with rocks and cliffs, and the rest of the island's edge, were mountain walls.

The pirates of this island sailed the Singing Shark, the most feared pirate ship of the seven seas. They had learned all the ropes of good piracy from the famed pirate Long John Silver.

Every ship that sailed near the island of Calamaria, was entered and send to Davy Jones' locker and a watery grave to sleep with the fishes. Either the rocks in the shallow water made it a ship without a rudder, or it scraped the bow away.

Any old tar knew this, everyone but one Roman captain named Rincewind. One fateful day Rincewind sailed to the island Calamaria with his slave ship. But the ocean had other plans for his vessel. Dark clouds gathered above the Roman ship as it passed the island. Waves as large as mountains rose around them and lightning struck the sea. A wind gale stronger then he had ever seen, ripped his ship apart. They had no port in a storm, therefore, left with no other option, the crew started to swim for the Island of Calamaria.

The captain said to his crew: "don't let this take the wind out of your sails, if we swim to the island in time, we might get on board and find ourselves a way back home."
And as everyone was in the same boat, or better, no longer in one, they did what he said and swam for the island.

Meanwhile the Singing Shark headed for open sea, because time and tide wait for no man.
After hearing a loud crash, they went to investigate it. After all, flying pieces of wood aren't what you would considered an everyday occurrence. Even a landlubber would know, something was going on.

But dark as it was, the pirates didn't see Rincewind and his crew, and they made it to the island before they drowned.

"Cap'n, we have landed ourselves on the island of Calamaria!" One of the sailors shouted.
"Horrible tales are told about this island and its inhabitants." Another added.
"Shiver me timbers!" Rincewind exclaimed and ran away screaming.
Left alone the sailors felt like a boat without sails. And started to run after him.

The captain, being the coward that he was, hid himself in a rather dark and stuffy hut.
If great need of a smoke, he lit his pipe. The light of his tinderbox shone a small beam of light on a large crate, with the remainder of a word, something, something -npowder.

The pirates in the meantime, were unable to find the source of the noise, so headed back to port. When they anchored their ship, one of them found footprints that were not theirs, and headed to the captain.
"Arrr, cap'n we found footprints on the shore."
"So we have visitors, we will make them walk the plank, capture them!" The captain ordered his men. "We cannot let them find our below deck merchendice."
Rincewind, being stupid and curious enough to kill a pack of lions, went in for a closer look.
He found the faint outlines of the rest of the word, spelling "Gu", he added the other part to it. "…Gu…npowder." He whispered. "Shiver me timbers!" he screamed, and dropped his pipe on the dusty floor.

BANG!

The End…. (or is it?)
