Had her mom not suggested to her that she should get out and see the world, she wouldn't have had the chance to meet such an amazing person. It was by chance that she made her way to Iron Island. It was by chance that she wanted to check out what there was in that place. All she found were rocks, steel-type Pokémon, more rocks, and of course, him.

He told her his name was Riley.

He was a peculiar fellow. His choice of clothing was very classy, an interesting blend of navy blue and black, along with that hat. He spoke as if he were writing poetry and had a bit of wisdom to it, you wonder if he studied literature before taking up an interest in being a trainer. He welcomed her to the island and told her that despite the peaceful atmosphere, there were still dangerous elements to the island. For one, there were ragged rocks that could puncture you if you weren't careful. Another was if one were to go hiking around the mountains and accidentally fall, no one would know that they went missing unless you were close to them.

She understood him perfectly well, but wasn't afraid. Despite the dangers, she felt perfectly safe with him around.

Riley taught her a lot of things. How to read a trainer's movements, how to predict their next course of action and even learning about their weaknesses.

"The key is knowing your enemy," he explained. "That way you're at a large advantage when you up against them."

"But what if you can't read them at all?" Dawn asked. "What if they're good at concealing themselves?"

"Don't worry," he assured her. "You will."

And more and more did she fall in love with him.

She wonders how long she's been at Iron Island. A week? Two weeks? A month? Who knows. She was too busy enjoying herself to care.

Riley had suggested that they head to the mountains to train their Pokémon in the caves. He had explained it was one of his usual routines when he felt like he needed to toughen himself and his Lucario up, both mentally and physically.

It wasn't going to be such a hard trip really, since they knew their way around the island like the back of their hand. But even then one can slip and fall occasionally. They both hiked up into the mountains to the entrance of the cave, with Riley reminding Dawn that she should be more careful - the girl was too quick and excited. Poor Riley tripped on a rock earlier and landed on his back, with Dawn looking back and apologizing for getting him distracting with warning her. His hat flew off in the process.

"It's fine, Dawn," he reassured her. "There's nothing to worry about, honest."

Dawn still looked guilty at what she had done as she tried to console her emotions in order. "Can you get up?"

Riley looked like he had a bit of a difficulty. "Yeah, just give me a moment."

It was then she realized how... handsome he was without his hat. She couldn't remember the time when he had his hat off at all. Maybe when he was sleeping, course, but it's not like she's allowed in his room. His black hair was neatly ruffled and was as dark as the night. It was then Dawn realized, he's beautiful.

She bent down over to him and tugged at the front his suit and gently pulled him towards her before their lips touched. Riley was definitely surprised because he was caught off guard and when she parted he could only stare up at her.

"I'm sorry, Riley," Dawn murmured, blushing. "But I couldn't help myself."

Riley, too suave to blush, only smiled at her. "I was wondering when you would make your move."

Dawn was lost for words when Riley pulled her back to his lips.

They kissed. And kissed, and kissed, and kissed some more for what feels like forever to Dawn. But at the very least, it felt like a good forever.
