The 16-year-old Sirius Black walked outside the castle and onto the snow-covered ground, brushing past other students, not saying anything as he bumped into some. He was clutching his left arm wincing in pain and he looked pale. This year was not going well for the boy, and it was all thanks to one night. One lousy night.

'What have I done?' he thought mournfully as he made his to the frozen lake. 'Why was I so stupid?' It wasn't supposed to happen like this. No one was supposed to get hurt. Sirius just wanted to teach Snape a lesson so he wouldn't sneak around the Marauders and try to get them expelled. However, what he really wanted to do was get rid of the very image his father wanted him to be.

Sirius didn't have any friends now, they were all mad at him. Remus was mad because Sirius told someone about the Willow after he promised he'd never tell. James was mad because he almost had them all killed. Peter was mad because James was mad. 'I lost all my friends in just one night. I could have gotten Remus expelled, and if that happened, the Ministry would have been all over Remus. And what's worse, we could have been killed. Though Snape would have deserved dying.' Sirius finished his thoughts bitterly.

As punishment, Sirius was sent home for Christmas Holidays, and things hadn't turned out to well. He sighed and closed his eyes remembering the horrible events.

FLASH BACK

As soon as Sirius got home for the holidays, he was sent straight for his room and wasn't allowed to come out for weeks. His food was sent up by Kreacher and then the nasty beast took his dishes down. While he was, alone he spent his time doing homework and doing random spells. Finally, he was sent down to see his father.

Sirius sighed and knocked on the door, "Enter," his father's voice boomed. Sirius sighed and entered his fathers study.

"You wanted to see me, Father?" He questioned softly.

His father nodded, "Yes Sirius, it seems to me that once again you have forgotten what our family stands for."

Sirius glared, "And it seems YOU have forgotten I don't care what YOU and mum stand for"

"You disgraceful little whelp!" his father snarled as he delivered a blow to the boys face. "I don't know how you found out the whereabouts of a werewolf but leading Severus, a RESPECTFUL pure blood to it is unacceptable!"

Sirius snarled, "Well father I could care less what you or Mum think!"

His father smiled cruelly, "My boy, you need to be taught a lesson, one that you wont forget, and one that will remind you who you are deep down, and who you will always will be." He pointed his wand at Sirius a muttered a spell laughing as Sirius fell to the ground in pain.

END FLASHBSCK

Sirius opened his eyes shaking the memory from his mind. He sighed and lifted his sleeve. There on his arm was a scar. It read, Toujours Pur, the Black family motto. Sirius sighed, "Always Pure…" he murmured as he leaned against the tree and closed his eyes, thinking about all the events that lead up to this. He led Snape to the willow. He almost got them all killed. He acted out of hate. He acted like a Black. Almost getting someone killed based on his own hatred - that was not a Gryffindor-like thing to do. It was a disgusting Black thing, and his friends had all the right to be mad. He just hoped that they'd take him back after he did such a Black family thing to do.. He opened his eyes suddenly and realized with horror that he acted like the very image his father wanted him to be all along. Deep down he was a Black, and that would never change.
