A/N: This is a bit of an alternate universe. The Teen Titans are not quite heroes, but more anti-heroes, where they will apprehend criminals, but they won't hesitate to kill them. Because of this, this story will be a little darker than usual. How dark will yet to be seen, I only have half of the second chapter written, but if I'm right, the darkest it will get is rape and character death. Not gonna say which characters, though! (This is because I don't know yet. The characters like to surprise me when I write more than one chapter…) Well, I hope you enjoy! Second chapter's coming as soon as it's finished.
He came because of revenge.
Everyone knew about the small group of teen "heroes" that ran Jump City at night: the Teen Titans. Lead by a mere human, Robin, the Titans were both loved and feared throughout Jump; they fought the villains that plagued the streets, but if given the opportunity, the whole team would rather kill instead of sending the criminals to jail.
Needless to say, this had captured many of his client's interests, particularly ones who had business partners or suppliers slaughtered by the ruthless teen and his group. Many people wanted revenge for their actions, an eye for an eye. Or rather, a body for a body.
And this, in fact, was the reason that Slade Wilson was in Jump City that night.
The mercenary had been hired to kill Robin himself, with an extra hundred thousand thrown in for any other Titan he happened to take out. He'd studied the team's strategy, reading up about each member's powers, strengths, weaknesses, but it seemed that, somehow, the human was the one to fear in this group.
No wonder Slade was getting paid a pretty penny to come and do this.
The man had gotten into Jump late that night, and, as usual, the group of teens were out patrolling. Slade didn't bother to sneak around, already managing to make quite a bit of fuss by just coming into the city. It didn't seem to matter that he hadn't outright done anything yet.
A dark-looking magic user was the first to approach Slade the first night. She glared at him, a cautious look in her eyes.
"Who are you?" she asked softly. Slade smirked. Of course she knew the answer to her question or she wouldn't be asking it in the first place.
"Let's skip the introductions, shall we, Raven?" Slade smirked. "I'm here to kill your leader."
The empath immediately shifted into a fighting stance, orbs of black magic surrounding her hands. "You'll have to go through me."
She was dead before she finished the sentence, Slade holding a smoking gun with it's safety off.
Fortunately, the next Titan he ran across was the human himself. And, even luckier, he caught the boy with his back turned.
Slade smirked, raised the gun, and fired.
Suddenly, his world went white.
