A figure snuck into the room and over to the bed. It sat on the floor after grabbing the alarm clock. After resetting the alarm for near midnight, the figure smiled and snuck back out. It was 6:28 am.

"Sleep well, Athrun." the person laughed before leaving.

Athrun Zala blinked wearily. He yawned and rolled over to have his eyes land on the alarm clock beside him.

'8:57...' he took a minute to register just what he was seeing. But when it sunk in...

"KIRA!"

Downstairs, in the kitchen, said brunette flinched while he laughed.

"Why the hell would you change my alarm! You know I have things planned today!" Athrun groaned as Kira brought him breakfast. Athrun would have made his own, but for some reason, Kira was being.. Extra nice today.

"No you don't."

"What do you mean 'No you don't'? You know how busy my schedule is.." Athrun stared suspiciously at his love as he began to eat.

"I called into your work and told them that you couldn't come in today. Your secretary was more the happy to give you the day off.. So was your boss. He said you needed a day to yourself. Nice people really." Kira smiled. Athrun grumbled into his orange juice.

Athrun found himself walking to the movie theater around the corner. Why was Kira being so nice today? He loved the idea that Kira was doing things for him.. More than usual.. But what was so special about today? Oh well. Might as well enjoy his day off with his boyfriend.

Athrun leaned over to Kira and kissed him on the cheek. Kira blushed and ..blushed. He was so cute! Athrun grinned.

"W-what movie.. Do you want t-to see?" Kira stuttered. Athrun check the choices.

"I don't care.. They all look good to me.." really, they did. Athrun didn't think any of them would be bad to see. Kira chose a random one and paid for tickets before the entered and got popcorn.

Through the whole movie, Kira kept glancing at Athrun to make sure he was having a good time. It was important on a day like today. He leaned on Athrun's shoulder and smiled. Athrun looked down at the brunette's head and smiled softly before watching the movie again.

The movie finished and Kira took Athrun back home, smiling like he knew something.

"Why are you smiling like that?" Athrun asked.

"Hm." Kira sped up and Athrun paused.

"Hey!" Athrun rushed to catch up.

Kira unlocked the door and walked in and held the door open for Athrun, still smiling. Athrun eyed him suspiciously.

"Wait in the dining room." Kira ordered. "I have a surprise for you." Athrun sighed but complied. Upon entering said dining room, he found the lights off.

"How strange." he flipped them on, only to be attacked. He now lay on his back with an excited blonde on top of him. "Cagalli!" he exclaimed. Cagalli smiled, proud of herself for surprising him like that, before she stood up and Athrun got a good look around. The room had been decorated with balloons and a 'Happy Birthday' streamer. Besides Cagalli, he also spotted Lacus, Yzak, Nicol, Dearka and Miriallia. What was going on?

"Happy Birthday!" they all shouted. Athrun blinked then smiled. Inside he was cracking up. He'd forgotten his own birthday! No wonder Kira was being so nice today!

Speak of the devil, Kira walked in with a big cake. 18 candles lit atop it. He set it down on the table and then he made Athrun sit behind it. Athrun smiled up at him before blowing out all of them.

As he opened presents and played around, Athrun thought of how great all his friends were. And while everyone ate cake and laughed with one another, Kira stood beside Athrun.

"Happy Birthday." he whispered into his ear before kissing him.

Athrun mentally noted to repay Kira on his birthday.
