I know this is very short, but it's my first fanfic, and I didn't have far to go with it. Hope you enjoy(:
It was late afternoon when Teddy entered the forest. He knew it was wrong to be there, but he needed to get away. It was the eleventh anniversary of the Great Battle. Everyone at Hogwarts knew what Teddy had lost that day. Teddy didn't anticipate the sympathetic looks, but immediately found he couldn't stand them.
Teddy ran a hand through his messy turquoise hair. Being a Metamorpahamagus was one of the few things he had to remind him of his mother. He knew his parents only from pictures, and stories told to him by his grandmother and godfather. But stories could never be enough for Teddy.
After fifteen minutes of aimless walking, Teddy came upon a strange stone. As he turned it in his hand, two figures came into his peripheral vision. He looked up with a gasp as he saw the people who danced in the picture frame on his bed side table. His parents.
"Oh Teddy," his mother whispered, an unfathomable longing in her voice.
"My boy," his father said with mingled pride and sorrow.
"Mum… Dad, how are you even here?" asked Teddy, his voice quivering.
"We don't have much time, son. We will be here as long as you hold the stone, but we will soon stop belonging in this world," said Teddy's father. "But we want to tell you how much we love you."
"You are so brave," his mother said with gleaming eyes.
"But was it really so brave to run from your problems?" asked his father.
"I had to…you didn't see the way they all looked at me."
"Aren't you proud of us, Sweetheart?" his mother asked, her voice wavering.
"Course I am Mum. I wish you were still with me, but…"
Something suddenly dawned on Teddy.
"I can't feel sorry for myself, when I know what you sacrificed for everyone. For me."
His parents smiled at him and joy filled his heart.
"I should never have left you that night. Mommy and Daddy love you so much," his mother whispered, tears sliding down her ghostly face.
She looked at him with so much joy he couldn't stop the words from his mouth.
"Will you stay with me forever?"
"Oh Sweetheart, we can't."
"It's time to go," said Teddy's father. "I know it's hard to understand, but we don't belong in this world anymore, son. You mustn't come looking for the stone again."
Teddy heart broke as those words. He considered disobeying his father, but thought better of it. He didn't want to dissapoint him
"I understand," sighed Teddy. "But I'll miss you"
And with that the stone fell from his hand and his parents were gone.
