Sheldon Swifties: XV. "The Lucy Mercer Complication…"

Summary: Like my Immortal Beloved bits in my Buffyverse stories, these are fragments and short bits, some longer…Just to fiddle with ideas, possibly forming longer tales later.

Disclaimer: All is Chuck's…

"Wow…" Penny stared at the TV screen as the end credits of "Eleanor and Franklin: The White House Years" rolled by…With haunting, melancholy theme…

"That was so sad…How could Mr. Roosevelt do that to poor Eleanor after all she'd done for him?...Men…" she frowned at the somewhat sheepish three nearby…Leonard, in particular, then Raj, and finally, with somewhat less annoyance, Howard…Bernadette a bit weepy in his lap…

Sheldon totally oblivious…Asking for the fourth time when they'd get to see the physicists building the first atom bomb under Roosevelt, as Amy had offered as an inducement to get him to sit still for the showing…

"Hard to say, Sheldon…Anytime now, I'm sure…" she repeated for the fourth time…

"You know…" Penny, sighing… "It's neat and all…Very nice…But, you know…Eleanor's best woman friend having a relationship behind her back with the husband she worshipped…Poor Eleanor so sweet and tolerating Franklin's self-centered behavior all those years, but so insecure and all about her looks and everything…"

"YOU DO AND YOU DIE!..." Bernadette, shrieking…Blinking at all staring at her…Howard, a rather terrified look…

Ummn… "Of course I mean hypothetically…But I know you'd never go along with anything like that, honey…" she hugged a still-recovering Howard… "It would just be Penny's desperation after dumping Leonard again…"

What?...Leonard stared…

"Oh, please…Much more plausible with Penny and Sheldon and me…" Amy noted… "Except of course Penny is my bestie and would never do that to me…Plus I told her a year ago what neurobiologic horrors she could expect if she ever so much as sings 'Soft Kitty' to Sheldon again…" fond smile to Penny…Leonard staring…

"Fine, but when do we see Fermi, Oppenheimer, and Fat Man and Little Boy…?" Sheldon sighed…

"She can't really turn me into a chicken like that woman in that old 'Freaks' movie…?" Penny hissed to Leonard…
