It was raining on the day that Earth landed on her namesake planet.

"It rains a lot back Home, Sunshine" her father had once told her of the distant land called Florida. He named her after his planet, but nicknamed her after his home state, both of which he talked about for hours at an end.

Earth felt a pang of guilt at the memory of her parents; they would be worried sick now, but she needed to do this, needed to see where her father had come from…

…where she had come from…

"Come on, D!" Earth urged, the feeling of the upcoming wormhole sending tingling sensations up and down her spine.

"You're insane!" her brother pointed out, as if she needed a reminder.

"Don't you want to see all the places Mom and Dad tell us about? This is our chance!" she yelled at her older brother.

Earth grunted in frustration. D'Argo could be so damn straight-laced sometimes, always so frelling eager to please their parents.

A natural-born leader, their father always said.

It was tough growing in his shadow, but it was even tougher to deal with the fact that he wasn't even willing to come with her; to see the only home planet they would ever know. Earth loved Moya and Pilot, but she yearned for stability. She dreamed of sitting on a beach in Florida, the ocean wetting her feet as the sun rose and set steadily around her. She had made a point of learning English, because she had always known the day would come when she wouldn't be able to depend on translator microbes.

It was pointless to try to convince her brother, and Earth made D'Argo swear to secrecy as she jumped on her newly remodeled prowler.

And then the wormhole opened up.

The mud swallowed most of her boots when she exited the prowler.

Rain slid down her face and Earth didn't fight the urge to taste it.

Freedom.

Yeah, she was going to catch hell when she returned, but she was going to make it worth it.
