Please review! Just a random idea! Hermione didn't go looking for Horcruxes in this!

Blaise knew what he had done was right. He knew he had broken his own heart but it didn't matter. It didn't matter because she was safe. He knew it was the only way to protect her but it tore him apart.

And even now when he was staring death in the face he would like to think he had never looked back. Never wished he hadn't broken her heart. Never wanted everything to be different. But he had. Everyday he wished things had been different.

He wished she had never loved him. If she hadn't fallen for him then her life would never have been threatened. If she hadn't fallen for him he would never have had to break her heart.

She thought it was because he didn't love her. Boy was she wrong.

Hermione and Blaise were in the head dorms. They were making out when Hermione pulled back.

"What's wrong?" asked Blaise.

"I think…" Blaise nodded encouragingly.

"I think I'm falling in love with you." She said in a rush. Blaise froze. This was bad. This was very bad. Her life was threatened every moment she was with him and he had been waiting for the right moment to tell her but now what was he going to do? He knew he was in love with her but now it would make it so much more difficult.

"'Mione… I don't think this is working out." A look of hurt and pain filled her face.

Hermione had thought he loved her too. But the moment she told him he broke up with her. And now here they stood. Wands pointed at each other. Unknowing.

Blaise wanted to follow her, to comfort her, to explain why they had to split. But he couldn't. So he let her walk off to her room, clearly crying.

After a while he left the common room. He walked to the library where he met Draco.

"I did it." Draco put his arm around his best friend.

"It's okay. You'll get over it." He said.

And now, months later, they were standing in the middle of the battle, about to send a fatal curse at the love of their lives.

"Why did you do it?" asked Hermione suddenly.

"To protect you." He replied knowing exactly what she meant.

"Protect me from what?" she shouted over the raging battle. No one had noticed that neither was fighting.

"From all this! My family was in too deep with the dark lord… if I continued seeing you and my parents messed up – or if anyone messed up you would suffer. I couldn't let that happen." Hermione paused before asking another question.

"Did you love me?"

"I did and I still do! I love you more than you could even imagine." He replied. Suddenly she rushed forward.

For a moment it was as if the battle had ceased to exist. All Hermione saw was her Blaise standing in front of her. Kissing her passionately. She knew then and there that his love had never wavered. He had always been true. He was her only love.

But it lasted only a moment. A moment later Hermione felt Blaise fall away from her. He landed in a crumpled heap on the ground.

Dead.

Hermione screamed and knelt beside him. She looked up. She saw Bellatrix Lestrange laughing.

"Pure bloods and Mud bloods don't mix." She cackled. She turned. She didn't see Hermione. She didn't understand the young woman's grief. She didn't see the killing curse until it was too late.

Then Hermione broke down crying over Blaise's body. His eyes were wide open. He was stone cold but Hermione didn't care.

Sometime the battle ceased around Hermione but she didn't notice.

None of it mattered without Blaise. Her love was gone. And so was her life.

Okay so a confusing end but I hope you liked it anyway! Please review!
