I think it's sad that the only fic I had for this fandom was a crossover. So I wrote this plotless, fruit of my recent Glen/Jack obsession. :)
I'd describe this as the making of the pocket watch without Lacie (the person) in the equation.
I don't own the rights to Pandora Hearts.
Jack Vessalius was sitting underneath a great oak tree in the Baskerville's forest, tinkering with what could only be described as small pieces of metal by the Baskerville family head, Glen Baskerville.
Glen watched the Vessalius from the shadows of a tree only a few paces away. Jack was either ignoring him or completely oblivious to his presence. Glen suspected the latter, it was highly unusual for the blond to ignore anyone, almost impossible to imagine. He'd even strike up conversation with the maids when he visited the Baskerville mansion.
Jack's expression of concentration suddenly changed to a face spitting smile as he took out his signature gold pocket watch and attached a piece to the exposed portion of the clock face.
The first notes of a familiar melody drifted to Glen, breaking the sound of bird songs and leaves shifting in the breeze. The soft melody was cut short all to soon with the click of the watch closing.
Jack placed the remaining scraps of metal on the white cotton handkerchief he had previously laid out in the grass and tucked it in his inner-breast pocket.
Before Glen could make the decision to reveal himself or stay hidden he was walking over to Jack. The grass was silent underneath his boots, the only sound was his breath.
Jack looked up at him, the surprise on his face was quickly replaced with another grin. "Glen!" he greeted cheerfully.
Glen allowed himself a small smile and sat down next to Jack on the soft grass. He leaned into the tree and looked sideways at the blond.
"I've finished," Jack announced cheerfully, answering Glen's unasked question.
Glen nodded, "May I see it?" He held out his hand.
Jack placed the golden pocket watch in his friends hand without a moments hesitation. The metal was slightly warm from being in Jack's hand.
A warm feeling came over the dark-haired man's heart, the music box maker trusted him fully with his latest masterpiece.
Glen opened the watch and instantly the piece filled the air. His fingers twitched, automatically responding to the sound he had created while playing the piano. When the song finished he gently closed it.
Jack, after a moment to allow his friend to think, asked, "What do you think?"
Glen thumbed the golden cover of the watch, tracing the simple, yet elegant design. He gently cupped Jack's cheek and pressed his lips to his in response.
Jack gasped softly, then melted into the kiss. He was silent for a moment after Glen released him. "I guess it passed Baskerville appraisal, then."
A short drabble I wrote while listening to Lacie. Please review :)
