There was a beautiful and grown woman with blonde hair and her name was Caroline Davis. She was holding the baby carrier in one hand and the baby bag in the other. She remember the right address to the man's house, but couldn't remember which door it was. It's been a while since she had last seen Joey Tribbiani.
Caroline was one of the many affairs of Joey. She had a relationship with him and spent the nights. Unfortunately, Caroline discovered she was pregnant and knew it had to be Joey's baby because she didn't sleep with anyone else since. The baby was obviously unplanned and unexpected. She was no where near ready to be a mother herself and couldn't imagine taking care of a child. She didn't want to become a mother in the first place and never planned on having children. Caroline didn't know how she ended up pregnant other than having sex. She thought they had used protection. Supposedly, they weren't always a hundred percent safe.
Caroline went to the door at the right and knocked on it. She hoped Joey would raise the baby. It was his anyway and he would have to. If not, she planned on giving it up for adoption. Her first idea was to abort it, but her family was against that.
The person who answered the door wasn't Joey. Maybe she had the wrong apartment. It was a woman with white skin and black hair.
"Hello. May I help you?" She asked friendly.
"Sorry. Do you know where Joey Tribbiani lives?" Caroline asked her.
"Oh, he lives right across the hall." She pointed at the door behind her.
"Thanks." She smiled.
"Sure." The dark haired woman said and closed the door.
Caroline went to the other apartment and knocked on the door. It took a while, but it was a man who answered it with brown hair.
"May I help you?" She was asked that for the second time.
"Joey Tribbiani lives here, right?" Caroline didn't know if the other woman hadn't heard her right. She knew the man right in front of her wasn't Joey.
"Yeah, I'm his roommate. Chandler. Joey's not here right now. What's your name?"
"Caroline Davis. Mind if I come in?"
"Uh, sure," Chandler said and allowed her to walk in the apartment with the baby carrier. He noticed it and was curious, but didn't say anything. "What do you need from Joey?"
"I need for him to be a father to our baby." Caroline answered him bluntly as she set the carrier down on the floor.
That statement alone put Chandler in for a shock.
"What?"
Caroline impatiently rolled her eyes. Then she summarized her story in a rush. "This is Joey's baby. Her name is Leah and the middle name is Isabelle. She's ten months old. Joey and I dated and I'm pretty sure you know how the whole baby making process works."
"I have the gist of it." Chandler nodded.
"I never meant to get pregnant and never wanted to have any kids. But the universe decides to screw with me and made me have a kid anyway. I can't be a mother and I can't give it away. Joey needs to be a father for Leah because I just can't be there for her. God, I know I sound like an awful person and mother, but I just can't do it."
Caroline looked like she was close to breaking down to tears, but Chandler tried his best to comfort her even though it was still mind blowing to him that Joey Tribbiani fathered a child.
"I know being a mother and a parent is hard. My parents are divorced. I saw how it was firsthand. Are you sure this is the right decision?"
"Yes," Caroline looked down at the sleeping infant. "You're right. It is hard, but I know I'm just not ready. If Joey is not ready either then he is free to put her up for adoption. I don't want him to contact me or see me. He has done enough."
Chandler could sense that Caroline was still angry and bitter at Joey. Joey was always a womanizer and Caroline became the victim. It's not like she's the first ex girlfriend to get angry at him when he wouldn't return phone calls or ask for another date. But for Caroline, it was so much more than that. There was a baby, another human being, involved. An accidental pregnancy and Caroline didn't want the baby. Chandler couldn't blame her for that. It was Joey's fault too for not being careful and protected.
Chandler had to comply with Caroline's wishes. It would be a lot for Joey to handle being a single father. He knows how Joey is. The man can barely handle himself.
"Okay," Chandler said. "I'll let Joey know all about...this."
"Thanks...um..." She looked at him not remembering his name. "What's your name again?"
"Chandler."
"That's a funny name." Caroline smirked.
"My parents are funny people."
"So, here's the baby bag whenever Joey will get it. Everything is all up to him." She said.
"Yeah, got it."
"Thanks, Chandler." Caroline said to him and walked out of the apartment without taking a second glance back to her sleeping daughter, Leah.
The moment Caroline had left, the baby started to cry. Chandler looked down at the baby's name and was horrified. He had no experience with babies whatsoever.
"Of course! Now you cry!" Chandler said with annoyance and carefully picked up the crying baby and wished Joey would be back soon quickly.
Half an hour later, the baby was still crying. Chandler was a wreck and didn't know how to stop the baby from crying. He was holding her and gently rocking her all the while he hoped he wouldn't drop her.
The door opened and it was Monica and Rachel. He was glad to see them. Maybe they can help.
"We can hear the baby crying in my apartment!" Monica exclaimed, to raise her voice over the baby's.
"I think the people in China can hear it!" Rachel exclaimed too.
"Where did you get the baby, Chandler?" Monica asked her, wincing at the loud cries.
"Oh, you know. I decided to go to Baby's R Us and buy one just for the fun of it!" He replied sarcastically.
"I'm serious, Chandler."
"There's this girl named, Caroline Davis and-"
"Did you get her knocked up?" Rachel gasped.
"No, I didn't. Joey did."
"That I believe." Monica said, but she was equally shocked like Rachel was.
"So, Caroline came over here and said she didn't want nothing to do with the baby and wanted Joey to take care of it. The girl's name is Leah."
"I want to say poor thing, but she has lungs of an opera singer!" Rachel said, closing her ears to block out the wailing.
"Can any of you help? I'm desperate here!" Chandler did look like a mess and was clueless about the baby.
"Give her here." Monica had her arms open and Chandler handed the baby over to her.
Monica was gently rocking the baby and softly cooing to it. After a while when that didn't work, she decided to smell the diaper and it stank.
"I think we have a problem," She figured it out. "Do you have any diapers? The baby needs it's diaper changed."
Chandler looked into the baby bag. "I think there's some in here." He took one out and gave it to her.
Monica looked inside the bag and saw a blanket so she put that on the floor and put the baby on it to change. After the changing was done, Leah seemed to be fine and calmed down.
"How did you know to do that?" Chandler was impressed. "That's amazing!"
She shrugged while still holding the baby. "Easy. Just smell the butt if it reeks."
He snorted. "Yeah, like I'm going to do that."
"You live with Joey so you'll probably have to help out too. You need to learn how to change a diaper." She pointed out.
"I can't believe this," Rachel was still in shock and stared down at the baby. "Joey will freak out when he'll find out about this."
"I know." Monica said.
"I so want to be here for that!" Rachel said giddily.
Monica and Chandler gave her a look.
"And I'll be there as his friend to support him." She added for assurance.
Hours later, Joey returned to the apartment and was holding a sandwich that he brought from a store and put it on the counter. He saw that Monica and Rachel were inside his apartment. Monica called for Chandler to come out of Joey's room. Joey was confused when he saw Chandler coming out of there and how he had gently closed the door, but left it slightly ajar.
"What were you doing in my room, Chandler?" Joey asked.
"Uh...well," Chandler started awkwardly. "I was...cleaning."
"Cleaning?" He got even more confused. "Why are you doing that? We all know that's Monica's job. I don't let to have my room too clean, you know."
Monica gave Joey a look even though that was true.
"I was cleaning because...to make more room."
"More room for what? What's in there?"
"I think you mean who's in there?" Rachel smirked.
Joey grinned. "Is there a hot girl in there?"
"Oh, there's a girl in there alright." Chandler partially agreed.
"Did you pick her up?" He asked, sounding impressed.
"She just dropped by here randomly."
"And she wants me?" Joey asked, liking the thought of a hot girl in his bedroom waiting for him.
"She really wants you," Monica said. It was like she's speaking in code for what Joey's about to see and hopefully he'll understand. "She wants you to be there for her."
Joey's grin broadened and he exclaimed happily. "Okay! I'm going to go see her."
Joey walked into his bedroom and the grin was wiped away from his face. He never expected to see a baby asleep on his bed. He expected a hot blonde girl. Not a baby. They had set him up for this, but why? How did a baby get into his bedroom? Why was the baby even here?
Joey slowly walked out of his bedroom to not disturb the infant's rest. He could barely stare at his friends while his brain tried to comprehend what was going on.
"Why is there a baby in my room?" He asked almost in a hollow voice.
"Joey, the baby is yours," Chandler explained finally. "She is your daughter. Her name is Leah."
"What?" He was in disbelief. "No. That can't be my baby..."
"Joey, it's true. The mother came here when you weren't and told me everything. Leah is your baby."
And that's when Joey had fainted.
