Disclaimer: If I owned Pirates, there would have been major changes to On Stranger Tides. Ergo, Gillette and Groves would not have died.

"No, this won't do," said Aphrodite, from her lofty throne upon Olympus as she viewed once again the death of one of her especial favorites. Over the eons, of all the deaths of her favored ones, this one, she was sure, would stay in her eternal memory. She elegantly flicked a finger to the right, flashing back once more through the scene. She sighed at his romantic words, and then yet once more as she watched him kiss Elizabeth shortly before he was run through, once more saying, "No, indeed, this just won't do at all." She contemplated what on earth she could do to save her favorite from such a terrible fate. He more than deserved happiness with the young Elizabeth, instead of the sad fate he was consigned to. She thought long and hard—contrary to popular belief, she had a sensible head on her shoulders, and she could concoct plans just as well as her brother Hermes and her sister Athena. Well, maybe not as well as Athena, but she was no numbskull. Then, she struck on the very thing. A cunning smile and expression descended on her lovely face, as she hastened to put forth into motion her plan. She would save him, she determined, and Calypso and her freedom could go to Hades for all she cared.

A. N.: So... I was on a Pirates kick lately, and this idea began percolating. I know I should finish my Star Trek: 2009 fanfic, but, this idea wouldn't let up, so I did as the Muse willed.

A. N. Two: Bonus points if you can guess who exactly is Aphrodite's favorite. First to get it gets a character named after them. Leave a review to guess. :)
