Okay so I came up with this bit of fluff after reading a different fanfiction when Kurama gets a pet and I thought this would be cute. Just a one shot, hope you enjoy it.

Hiei looked around wary, but curious, as Kurama dragged him into the large department store. Then he spotted all the humans that were milling about and he just about ran away. Only Kurama's hand on his shoulder stopped him from leaving, putting a comforting, restraining hand on his shoulder.

"Behave, please." Kurama asked, "I want you to help me pick out a pet."

"Why?" Hiei demanded.

"You basically live with me, you might as well chose what lives with us." Kurama answered patiently and not for the first time.

"Fine." Hiei grumbled as they turned into a homey looking pet shop.

Kurama didn't hesitate as he walked over to the domesticated dog and cat isle. Hiei followed and watched in wonder as Kurama petted one of the kittens with one hand and one of the dogs with his other.

"Well?" Hiei asked impatiently as Kurama debated.

"I'm not sure which to pick." Kurama said, unsure, "Dogs are loyal but cats are independent. What do you think?"

"I don't know, fox. And I don't care." he snorted.

"Okay, if you really don't care. I think I'll go with..." Kurama trailed off. Then he smirked, "Hiei, will you step out side while I decide?"

Hiei shrugged and left the store, using all his self control not to bolt.

Minutes later, Kurama appeared carrying a bag of pet food and a carrier with a docile ball of fur inside.

"What did you chose?" Hiei asked, feigning disinterest.

"I chose..." Kurama set down the food and, using his free hand, opened the door and pulled out the fur ball.

Nestled in Kurama's hand, was a black and white spotted kitten. The kitsune grinned sweetly, he has my eyes. Hiei looked and saw the cat's mismatched eyes, one green and one golden. Hiei fought back his smirk as Kurama cuddled with the fur ball.

So? In case you're curious, I do prefer cats and I've often dreamt about being one of those people that always smells like cat fur because they own so many. Plus I think they reflect me best, I always thought that if I were to transfer into an animal it would be a cat or a fox. Seeing as Kurama is a fox himself I think that having a pet fox would be a tad odd, and I don't actually think it's legal to own a fox anyway.
