"Snowflurry! Beetlewing!"
I beamed with pride as my name was called. My best friend, Beetlewing, sat next to me, just as excited. We were finally warriors!
"You shall sit vigil tonight under StarClan," Fawnstar announced. "The rest of us shall get a good night's sleep while you watch over us."
Beetlewing and I nodded and padded to the middle of camp. The others disappeared into the dens. It hadn't been long when Beetlewing leaned toward me. His nose was uncomfortably close to my ears when he spoke.
"Want to see something amazing?" he whispered. I gasped. Beetlewing had just broken the rules of his vigil!
He chuckled when he say my expression. "Don't worry, we'll still be in camp, so we can protect it. And you don't have to talk. Come on!" He bounded into the trees. Gulping, I followed.
Following his scent, I twisted and turned through the treed andreached some bushes near the edge of the Clans. Beetlewing gave me a playful smile. "Follow me!" We crawled under the bushes. Beetlewing nudged me. "Look." I opened my eyes and my jaw dropped.
We were at the edge of a small pond with small white and yellow flowers surrounding it. The pool of water was glistening with a few lilies on the surface. Up above, the stars twinkled. They reflected on the pond so it looked like they were in the water. It was the most amazing thing I had ever seen.
"Amazing, huh?" Looking at Beetlewing, I could tell he loved it just as much. His eyes sparkled like the shining stars. "I come here when I've had a bad day."
Just on bad days?! I thought. I wish I could live here! This place is amazing! Yet I was still silent as we laid down next to the water. I stared up at the brightest star in the sky, directly above. I wonder if that spirit is so bright because they love to see this pond.
After a while, I noticed the moon was starting to disappear behind the hills. I gave Beetlewing a look that said, We should get back. He nodded and we started the route back to camp.
In truth, I could barely pick up my paws to leave the amazing spot. Why did I have to leave? It was so beautiful... Then I remembered I could always come back someday. Plus, my Clan was more important.
We returned to our vigil. When dawn arrived Fawnstar slipped out of her den. "Get some sleep," she mewed. "Try to wake up in time for the sunhigh hunting patrol."
We nodded and Beetlewing padded to the warriors' den. I followed, but not before whispering words to Beetlewhisker I knew he didn't hear. "Thank you."
So that's my entry for the flash-fic contest in ImagineClan! It's an amazing forum and currently counting down the days until its anniversary. I hope you enjoyed! Please review!
