"Sasuke-kun!"
The only thing that could register in Sasuke Uchiha's mind was that there was a female voice calling his name.
"Sasuke-kun, are you finally waking up?"
The voice sounded so familiar. Yes, he knew that voice. He struggled to open his eyes, and at first, all he could see was a pink blur.
Sakura.
"I was right, you're finally awake! Are you in pain, Sasuke-kun?"
His eyes finally focused, and Sasuke saw Sakura standing over him. Her emerald orbs scanned his form, looking for any signs of discomfort. He slowly sat up from his hospital bed, feeling a little dazed and confused. "What happened?" He asked, his voice slightly raspy.
Sakura took a seat next to him and sighed lightly. "We won the war. You're in the hospital. You took a pretty bad hit from Madara. He was aiming for Naruto's blind spot and probably would have killed him, if you hadn't intervened…"
Sasuke nodded slowly. At least the dobe was fine, and the war was won. Sasuke shifted slightly and a sudden burst of pain radiated from his shoulder. He just barely flinched, but the medics trained eyes caught it. The pinkettes hands flew to his shoulder and soothing green chakra immediately began radiating from them and into his body. Sasuke began to relax as she worked on him in silence.
Her eyes were trained on his shoulder, focused on the task at hand. Sasuke took this time to study the girl, and began to lose himself in his thoughts.
The girl in front of him was not the same 13 year old lovesick girl he once knew. Sakura had definitely matured. She had seen many brutal things, and now knows what it's like to lose those closest to you. Yet she still had this innocence about her. She had loved him once. He had never treated her right. Why, oh why couldn't he ever treat her right?
Even after everything, the girl was still concerned about him. Did she still love him? He found himself hoping she did. Of every girl he'd known, she was the only one he could honestly say he had felt something for. They never got their chance. Life got in the way. Revenge got in the way. He owed her an apology.
"There, that should be better. Can you move your shoulder without any pain?" Sakura asked, as she pulled her hands away from him.
Sasuke blinked and then moved his shoulder around. There was no longer any pain. Good as new. Sasuke nodded at her. "It feels perfect. Thank you."
Sakura smiled at him warmly and he felt his heart speed up. How could she smile at him so warmly after everything he had done? Sakura turned away from him and was about to stand up when Sasuke grabbed her wrist without really knowing why. Sakura gave him a confused look. "Sasuke-kun?"
"I'm sorry, Sakura. For everything."
Sakura's eyes widened and she gasped lightly. She thought back to everything they had been through. Sasuke was apologizing to her. The realization made tears sting the backs of her eyes and she cursed herself for getting emotional over him so easily. But Sasuke wasn't done.
"You've always been there, and I've never treated you right. You… told me you loved me. You begged me to stay. Your cries fell on deaf ears, and then I tried to kill you and the rest of team 7. I'm not sure how I can begin to make up for everything, but I'm willing to try, if you'd let me."
Sakura blinked back her tears and a wide smile made its way to her face. Sasuke-kun was back. He was back, and he wanted to make amends. Without thinking, Sakura took his face in her hands and crashed her lips against his. Sasuke, caught off guard, quickly got over his shock and responded to the kiss, liking the feeling of her soft lips against his. Sakura pulled away, a blush now adorning her pale cheeks. She rested her forehead against his and sighed contently.
"I would like that, Sasuke-kun."
