"Alfie! Come on, let's go do something fun." Adrian yelled.
"Adrian, I'm not in the mood please just go away." Alfred responded.
"But... But why not? You never want to hang out with me anymore..." Adrian sulked.
As he said this, Adrian was greeted by empty silence. With every second he could feel the anger rising. The feeling of not being able to act, locking his joints in place. Finally, he snapped back, "Fine! Be like that, see what I care." He ran out of the apartment and onto the dark and desolate street below. He frantically wiped the tears from his eyes, refusing to show any weakness.
He walked along the sidewalk for what felt like hours. He didn't know where he was going or what he might find. All he knew was he was empty and he needed to fill himself up again. As the cold nipped at his smooth skin he slowly came to a stopping in front of a shop. The lights twinkling and dancing across the sidewalk. He became entranced with the scene laid before him.
Presents wrapped in shiny foil wrapped with colorful, silk ribbons. An cutout of Santa Claus smiling outward towards the street outside. Metal reindeers moving up and down on a old and rusting carousel. "It's beautiful isn't it? It might be old but there is still something enchanting about it." Turning his head, Adrian looked to see who was standing beside him. He was surprised to see a familiar face of the former Soviet Union. Though what puzzles him was, why was he here of all places.
"You're Russia, right? What are you doing here? I thought you hated this country and wanted to see it rotting in a nuclear landfill." He said, slightly accusingly. The tall country turned to him and smiled, his violet eyes glowing in the darkness. "Da, I am Russia. Though I'm past the days of nuclear war, those thoughts died with the fall on the union. To further answer your question, I was here for the meeting earlier. I was supposed to leave right after the meeting but my flight was cancelled for the snow." He responded, rolling his eyes. Adrian smiled at the country, attempting to hold back his laughter. Though it quickly faded, the sadness filling it's place as quickly as it left. They both just stood in silence for a few moments before Russia spoke up again.
"Why are you so sad? I don't understand." Adrian looked up, thinking of a response. He could only manage to stutter, "I just feel... Empty. I'm alive but I'm not living my life. I just want to curl up into a ball and just fade away." The bitter tears began to roll down his face, though he didn't bother to wipe them away anymore. He jumped when he heard the soft crying coming from beside him. Turning his head, he saw tears streaming down Russia's face as he was furiously wiping them away. "Hey! Why are you crying? Aren't you supposed to be scary, tough, and a nazi hating grizzly bear?" He asked."Russia began to laugh, "da, it is true. Not so sure about the grizzly bear part though. I apologize, I don't usually cry like this. Its just been so long." Adrian blinked, "Been so long since what? Since you've cried?" Ivan nodded, "Da. Though also, its been so long since I've actually talked to someone like this. I don't remember the last time its happened, its feels very nice." Adrian blushed brightly as he stared at the lights in the shop window intently. After a few seconds of silence he grabbed Ivan's hand, pulling him into a kiss. Ivan blushed, His cold heart fluttering. As they pulled away he asked, "What was that for?" Adrian smiled widely, "Just shut up and come with me for the adventure." Before Ivan could reply Adrian started walking down the street, pulling Ivan along like a child. "where are we going?" Ivan asked. Adrian laughed, "To a place I think you'll enjoy very much." With that, they left that store front, a new story about to begin.
