Just Can't Buy
"What—what are you," Frank began but sounded like he was shoved underwater before he could finish.
The two gasped and gulped for air. Nancy whispered, "No more pretending we don't want to be together."
"What!" Frank cried. "Did you break up with Ned?" He sounded terrified. It would seem a little too good to be true, especially considering Frank had just been dumped a month prior for being too engrossed in his caseload.
More rustling of clothes. Something clicked and immediately tapped lightly as it was dropped to the hardwood. Nancy's voice keened low at first then into a squeaking whimper as more cloth shifted. Frank gasped.
"I was going to get you this corduroy sheep-lined jacket I saw," her words were clipped and drowned for a second, "but I thought this would be a better Christmas present."
"Who needs a jacket," agreed Frank. His moan was cut off by a wet smack.
Taking his hand from its position inches from the doorknob, Joe looked down at his new corduroy jacket and decided he could ask Frank for his help later.
