So, this story is a bit more serious than I'm used to. I just hope Bui is a bit more in character.

Disclaimer: I am positive I don't own Yu Yu Hakusho. You want to know how I know? Because Karasu is still dead

There really wasn't much left of the stadium used for the Dark Tournament after Sakyo blew it up. Just a huge area of charred ground, along with scraps of debris here and there. Bui supposed he shouldn't have expected much more. Truth be told, Sakyo always did like to make a mess. He remembered what Toguro had done to the judges of the Dark Tournament on Sakyo's orders. He hadn't been there, but Toguro had described everything in detail, much to his disgust and what he thought was Karasu's delight. Or maybe envy that he hadn't caused the pain? Bui wasn't entirely sure, sometimes it was hard to tell with Karasu, and now, even if he'd wanted to know, it was too late. Team Toguro was finished.

Bui sighed. What was he doing here? There wasn't anything left, just a hunk of charred land with burned bodies. Still, he couldn't bring himself to leave. Bui had been with the Toguro brothers for so long, the sudden freedom was overwhelming. He didn't know what to do with himself, so he had decided to come back to where it had all started.

It may not have been this particular stadium, but it had been a stadium like this, a long time ago. He'd been younger, weaker, but still confident in his abilities. Bui had joined the Dark Tournament to…what was it, exactly? Prove himself? Gain something after winning? It had been so long ago, he couldn't remember anymore. Not that it mattered anyway, because one punch from Toguro had taken away any dreams and confidence he had. Instead, he entered into a world of pain and subordination.

Bui's foot scuffed across something, drawing him from his thoughts. He looked down, and then picked up the object. Even charred, battered, and dirty, Bui would recognize Karasu's mask anywhere. He supposed Karasu's body must be nearby, probably burned to a crisp and crushed by pieces of the stadium. Surprisingly, this thought made him feel a bit sad. Karasu had never been his friend, not by a long shot. However, they'd been in the same boat, so it was a kind of "the enemy of my enemy is my friend" truce. Also, if Bui was being honest, they had shared a couple moments he didn't mind looking back on. Of course, these were when Karasu wasn't insane with bloodlust.

Bui stared at the mask a moment longer, then let it slip from his hand and drop on the ground before continuing his walk. Karasu and the rest of the team were in the past. It was time to get off this island. Maybe, once he was far enough away, he could find a way to make himself useful. At the very least, Bui would try to keep himself out of trouble.
